Camaro SS ZR1 style clean up questions
Hello,
I recently purchased a set of what I think are OEM 96/97 SS wheels and I have a few questions regarding cleaning them up and whether or not they are a reproduction wheel.
1.) How the heck can I clean up and repolish the lip on these? One of the wheels had pretty bad rash so i sanded it as smooth as I could and it looks okay. Any method or polish to get it to really shine? All of the wheels have little dings and scratches here and there on the lip and it seems there is a clear coat on it so I dont want to make them look worse by sanding them if I dont have to.
2.) Anyone know of a paint match for these from say Autozone? The paint on these are not metallic, but I found the "ultra silver metallic" is a good enough match and I will use it if I cant find anything else. I will just be spraying the inside of the wheel.
3.) I just figured these are reproduction wheels because they did not have the GM stamp but rather a JWL stamp. After a bit of research, it looks like they may be OEM with this stamp. Is there any other way to verify this?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

My OEM 98 SS wheels have about a 1/4" lip that is unpainted. You could tape off the painted part and polish it out with some steel wool. I cleaned up the curb rash on mine with a dremel and a sanding roll.

Thanks guys. Again, I thought they were replicas initially, but after looking at about 50 96-97 SS's for sale online and zooming in on the wheel shots, it looks like the same wheel, same stamp. Here are a few pics I had on my phone, I don't have a close up of the lip currently. Also, I did try hitting it with steel wool as well, it seems there is clear coat over the lip and it is tough! Anyway, let me know what you think.
