how are nitto dr's in the rain
 

well im lookin for a stickier tire for the rear and was wondering how the nitto dr's are in the rain. its my every day car and i feel like the tires are slipping on hard accel. would this be a good tire to get? and how hard would this be on my rear end. i dont plan on any dumps just some hard shifting sometimes in the morning to wake me up :)

I hear they are quite good in the rain. And I hear wonders about their wortiness at the track. They will definitly be the next tires I get. It won't be hard on the rear as long as your arent dumping on launches

I don't have much experience with them in the rain since it doesn't rain much here, but so far so good :) . At least from what I noticed is that they drive just like regular street tires in the rain. Of course I don't usually go romping on it when it's raining out and people out here in vegas are phucking clueless about driving in the rain. Hope that helps! :cheers:

You can do a search on this subject. I remember reading a post in regards to it. I just can't remember if they said that the Nittos or the BFGs were awful in the rain. I'm sure niether of them are really ideal.

The BFGs are the ones that suck in the rain since the center section is solid and doesnt have any way to channel out water, but they hook alot better than Nittos, so it's a trade-off

bfs suck in the rain, nittos are doable. Just as long as u don't hit standing water going 70 on nittos you'll be fine. Nittos last longer also but bfs hook better.

I got caught in the rain with my Nitto's DR 315's during a two hour drive and they drove just fine. Although it was rainning, it was not a real heavy down pour with flooding. Hope this helps.

nittos are decent, as long as your moving straight.

if you lose control, and start to slide sideways, the nittos, will just continue to slide, and not grip

i know too many people that have wrecked there cars with nittos on them with wet roads.

I run BF KDWS all weather tires for that reason (and a set of rims for the track/playing)

Nittos are great in the rain when they are new. The more miles/burnouts you put on them they get VERY dangerous as would be expected when the tread wears down.

I have run Nittos on a daily driven car.
I would pretty much agree that the Nittos are a good in the rain when new. The key word here is NEW. After 5000 miles they are not new anymore the tread will be worn down some and they will not be so good if you hit ANY standing water at speed. After 10,000 -12,000 miles they will be pretty much bald at least in the center of the tire. I ran mine at about 26psi in rear and they still went bald in the center. At this point they are very dangerous if you hit any standing water.

So everyone that says Nittos are a great rain tire, I would agree with if you bought brand new tires every 5,000 miles. But this is not a good option on a daily driven car - just my two cents...

When Nittos are still beefed with tread, they do excellent in the rain. However when they're bald, be prepared to dance down the road :eek2:

when my junk was my only car in college it was on nittos full time. i was out at school and they were bald in the middles from the season that just ended. i got caught in the mother of all storms one day and there was a spot in the road a half block long with 2 inches of standing water and i plowed right through it like i was on water skis:D

i love nittos. i had many sets, and they were the only thing i considered once again when i got street rims for my car.

and yes the hook with lower PSI and a good burnout..they hook very well.

It's all in the driver, just don't be stupid and the tires will be fine in the rain.

so you guys are saying just get the 17'' Nitto DR for the rear.. since the car is rear wheel. the font I can do fine with 4 season tires...? is Nitto DR better than the ones I have now the goodyear f1 tires? what gain should I expect running DRs at 1/4 mi?

True. I lost control after switching lanes on bald 555r's. Just keep a close eye on the tread depth and be REALLY easy on the throttle.
