Default Getting rubber for 18" Weld Racing Rims. Your Opinion please

I had to look through the Wheel/Tire stickies 10 times but I think it finally sunk in as far as offset/back spacing. Back are 10" with a 7.2" bs and front are 9" with 6.7". (PN#71MB8100B72A and 71MB8090B67A) They have a +43mm offset and i am getting Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. I am pretty sure these sizes will be good correct? Any input is appreciated, including what tire combos you might think would work better for a daily driver. More interested in a street/strip car than a road course one.
Rear - 295/35/18 Front - 255/40/18

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Was considering 275/40/18s in the rear. I like the idea of filling out the wheel well, but with 3.42 gears they might be tallll. Now the 2 month wait for 295s...

Yeah both the 255/40/18(26.03") and the 295/35/18(26.13") are very close in height, an you'll still have plenty of side wall height in case the roads you drive on daily are less than perfect. I was going to suggest a 275/35/18 up front but for your intended usage I think the narrower 255 is a better choice.
Make sure to update us when all is said and done.

That's entirely opinion. I give a big NO to a 255 on a 9 inch wheel

So I guess then you're saying that, Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Pirelli, Yokohama, BFG, Hanook, Kumho, are all wrong for recommending a 255/40/18 tire on a 18" x 9" wheel...?
You are aware that the recommend wheel width range for the above tire is 8.5" up to 10"; correct...?

No, you misunderstood. I didn't say it wouldn't work, I mean it won't look at good as a wider tire.

Yeah, all else being equal it will have more side bulge so it might look better. Also possibly better wheel lip protection from curb scrub damage. Still most Michelin pilot sports I've seen, seem to run a little on the wide side. So I doubt running a 255/40/18 on 9" wide wheel will look bad(stretched) at all. Now if he was more concerned with corner carving than straight like driving then I would of suggested running 275/35/18s up front, or if he was running 18 x 9s or 9.5s front and rear then I also would of recommended 275/35/18s up front.

Well I've have the RTS wheels on for some time and they look insane on a Black LS1. In hindsight the 9" front wheels Are too wide for 255s as imo there is more lip than I would prefer. 265s would fit better.

IF he were more concerned with 'corner carving' then he would be much better off going to an 18x10.5 SQUARE setup with 295/35-18s ALL AROUND, and forgetting about the drag race 'appearing' staggered look (and 255s are HARDLY 'skinnies' so that is futile anyway if one is going for that 'look').

Even better yet, IF the roads are not too bad, and he did not mind a little bit of 'tramlining' on grooves in the roads, a 18x11 SQUARE set up with 315/30-18s all around would net the BEST handling balance, given the rest of the suspension, and brakes were up to the task.
