Default Changing tire setup, need suggestions.

Bought the car last fall and the tires are crap and also too wide on the rear.

It's a 30th anniversary car so I am going to keep the stock wheels. It is an M6 H/C/I car with a 9" and 4.11's. Currently has 315/35R17 and felt way too sloppy. It is stock ride height with QA1's on the rear.

I don't drive the car much but will be doing some highway driving (150 miles round trip a few times this year). Slicks or Radial is fine with me as it won't be getting out in any kind of weather and I'm fine with only getting one season out of the tires. Will be making a few trips to the track.

Really like the look of the 28" tire but my understanding is that with the M6 and 4.11's I should run a 26" tire which is fine. It has ET Streets on it now and I can't say that I'm super impressed with them from the times I drove it. Not a fan of Nitto's, no particular reason, just something about me says no to them.

Any suggestions?

on a 9" rim? I'm leaning with going back to the 315's.

Ahh...yep that does limit things lol. Toyo makes a really nice dr that works great on the street, handles decent, and lasts quite a while. Have you seen those?

I've heard bad things about them.

I don't carve corners, never sees water and will likely be around 2K miles this year if I had to guess. Just looking for something that hooks hard. 295's are almost impossible to find in a 26" tire and I'm not going down to a 275. Just kind of a PITA trying to find a good tire, lol.

MT ET Street Radials 275/40-17s would be my choice. Will hook and work well on the 9" wheel.

If you want more handling, the 275/40-17 Nitto NT05R would be my choice under those circumstances. It'll hook at stock power levels.

it's currently at 432HP and should be a little closer to 450 before spring time.

Based on what you are saying I think your best choices in that size will still be the MT with the BFG and NTO5R a close second. Not sure if Hoosier makes one in that size, but if so that would be a great choice as well

yeah, it has 315/35 ET Street Radials on it now but they are older so it's hard to tell if they hardened up on it or what but just didn't seem to hook as good as I thought it should. Also need to play with suspension settings when I get it to the shop as I haven't done that yet.

M&H also makes one in that size. I think they hook even better than MT but I don't know how they handle. I understand they are pretty thin sidewall.

Anyone have experience with the M&H Drag radials? Apparently they hook really hard but don't last super long?
