Default Which tire brands run wider in 275/40r17?

I recently bought a set of SS 10 Spoke wheels and they came with mismatched tires. The wheels came with a Bridgestone RE760 Sport, BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S, Yokohama ES100 and a Sumitomo HTRZ II. All of the tires are 275/40r17. By comparing them side by side the Yokohama ES100 seems to be the widest of them all and the rest are a bit wider than each other but can't really tell without a measuring tape. I also noticed the Yokohama seems to have more of a squarish profile than the others.
I also have some NT555Rs in 315/35r17 but I want to keep it at its stock size for now. For those of you that plan on telling me to go with a wider rim in the rear.
I'm trying to get a new set of tires but those Yokohamas are now discontinued. So which tire brands run wider than others in the 275/40r17 size? Goodyears, Nittos, Continentals, Kuhmos, Toyos, BFGs etc. The tire price doesn't matter.

If price is not a factor, I would say that Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 would be the best option for "widest" in a 275/40/17 size (in fact, they also offer a 285/40 version of this tire that you can use on your stock 17x9" wheel with no problems at all.) Next in line would likely be the BFG Sport Comp 2, as many people have actually complained about there being excessive sidewall bulge with this tire on a 9" wide wheel (though in my opinion, the GS-D3 still appears to be wider on a same width wheel....also due to having that "squarish" sort of shape that you mentioned above....and GS-D3 carries the option of a 285 size which is not available in the Sport Comp 2.)

I have BFG Sport Comp 2 summer tires and while the section width shows them being wider, they have a rounded shoulder and judging by the treadwear they put a actual 9.5" on the ground. The Conti Extreme Contact all seasons I had before were putting down 10" but the BFGs stick way better. 275/40-17 tires.

This. Actual grip vs. width.

If price is no object I'd go with the best Michelins out there. But, with most anything, price is a reality. Rather than just width, I'd closely look at the surveys on Tire Rack and other sources to see which tire actually will handle better for your intended driving. I think the Michelins, Conti's, BFG Comp 2, Nitto 555, GoodYear DS-G3, etc. can give good performance. Don't know much about Toyos and Khumo's. Nitto is a subsidiary company of Toyo. If a smoother ride is of any concern, then the Mich and Cont would probably be best. If wet handling will be a concern, some of these do better than others. Same for your combination of summer vs. cold weather driving. I went through all those factors + price and came up with the summer BFG Comp 2's. Nitto 555 and Conti DW were very close. I'd agree with the stickiness of the summer BFG Comp 2's.

Goodyear Eagle GS-D3 is the best for a stock rim in dry and wet handling by far,i had them installed after i decided i didnt like the toyos road feel after i bought the car, truly was 300% better than the toyos.tires were a bit wider as well.

Sadly, they do not make the Pilot Super Sports in this size (they barely make any 18" sizes we can use).
