Default How to tell if these are real ccw and will they fit?

I found these wheels and I was wondering how to tell if the are real ccw wheels or not. They came off a 2001 corvette. The front tires are 275/40/17 and the tears are 315/35/18. He does not have the offset listed and I'm waiting for a reply, they would be going on a 2000 camaro.

Well they would be a 3 piece wheel so check on the inside of the barrel for hardware. I've never owned CCW wheels but I'm sure it's stamped on them somewhere and probably with a part number you can run by CCW to clarify.

No, CCW does not "identify" their wheels.........

OP, where are the wheels that you posted the picture of, located? If they are indeed powder coated, and 3 piece wheels, they look like a set that I owned a few years back.

They may not fit right if going from a vette to camaro.

They do look like ccw classics. 3 pc.

It all depends on the rim width and offset. Prior to selling the last set of CCWs that I had (that looked a LOT like the ones pictured), which were previously on my Corvette, a potential buyer asked if they would fit an F-body. Since I also had a Z/28 at the time, I put them on the Z, to check. IIRC, the fronts fit just fine, but the rears were "close"....so tire sizing would have been critical.

My curiosity got the best of me, and I e-mailed the "Craigslister", asking about the wheels. I wasn't interested in buying them, just wondering if they were originally my wheels. No reply, so far....

I see rip offs all the time. Google ESM CCW Style 007

5x120 isn't perfect as most of you know, but it works.

Hey OP,

If u decide to buy them, very carefully inspect the spokes for hairline fractures. Those do look like CCW, i have a set of my own. The early generation Classics were known to get cracks on the spokes. The newer generations were redesigned(though i dont know in which way). Search "cracks in CCW classics". The centers for my set of Classics were shot peened(bought in 2014). I am guessing they do this now for extra strength and to relieve stress in the metal among other benefits.

If u buy them u can take them apart and send them(the centers) to CCW to have them brought up to date. I am guessing they just shot peen them and inspect them as well. If u can get them and they are in great shape ****** them up.

Good Luck!

I realize that your intentions are good, but if the centers have already been powder coated, they can't be shot peened, as it would destroy the finish.....

As I previously mentioned, I also contacted the seller, as I was curious if they were the wheels I originally bought, back around 2003. I asked him if he had center caps, as I had done some custom work to the caps I had, and it would then be easy to tell if they were originally my wheels. I didn't get a reply either. Either he already sold them, or isn't an aggressive seller.....

Yes i am aware if you shot peen powder coat it will obviously destroy the finish, that goes without being said. I was more giving him a warning. The early Classics are known to crack. There is a member here on tech who bought a set of used classics and had this very problem. If i were investing 1k in a set of used classics, i would personally send them off to be brought up to date especially if they are the early gens. CCW themselves have admitted the issue with the early designs.

Still 1k is cheap for a used 3 piece wheel. But just keep in mind what people typically use these wheels for. Would i buy them? If i could personally inspect them yes i would. But i would still send them off to CCW. I had my centers clear anodized to make inspection easier.
