what is the widest tire that will fit?

I have a 67 GTO with LS1 brakes on the front and rear. I would like to go as wide as possible with the rear tires on a US Mags 17 x 9 wheel. Does anyone know what tire size will fit?

275, maybe a 285?

If it were me, I wouldn't go wider than 275.

275 nt555's are almost flush on my 9.5 inch rim if that helps at all.
