315's hitting the bump stop. HELP!

my 315's are hitting the bump stop/bottom out. whatever the hell you call it. how do i cure this? guy at the tire place said you can unbolt it and just bang it in but that he can't because they could be held liable. a few of my friends said just to cut the thing off. will this compromise anything. anyone experience this before. whats the best solution? thanks in advance.

well man if its like mine they rub alil when the cars off the gournd wont hit when its sitting on the ground not unless you got a lift kit on your car, you are talking about when its on a rack right? never seen the rub a bump stop on 17" on the ground sitting there. and your talking about the bump stops that right below the inner fender wells ont he rear right?

I know what you mean, it doesnt rub when it is on the ground. just jack the car up by the axle and you wont have that happen anymore

so what are you saying? i don't need to do shit? when i jacked up the car to put on the tires it rubs some. should i ignore that and put them on and put the car back on the ground? how will i check if they rub? also if i just got ahead and grind the bump stop down some for a good fit, that'll be ok to right?

I cut mine off over a year ago. No problems.

#1, trim the bumpstop. Just cut half of it or so off.

Your problem is not the stop itself. Its just the way the car is when its jacked up. With 11"/315s...you always have to jack the car up by the axle to compress the suspension. It only touches when the suspension is completely unloaded which is just about impossible to do on the street. No worries, you are all good...just jack it up the right way next time around.

I cut my bump stops in half so they are still there, just skinnier. I also had to cut/grind the bump stops mounts to avoid any clearance problems with 17x11 wheels when its lifted from the frame.

I just grided the mount a bit with my dremel, didnt trim the bumpstop at all. As long as you dont jack up the car by the frame you will be fine, heck I have jacked up the car by the frame and havent had any problems. They will rub but they are fine with the weight of the car on the suspention. To check once you have the car back on the ground just crawl under the back and look at the wheels. the bumpstop will be fine.
