17's or 18's

What do you guys think? AR Rebels on a 98 Formula. Either 17x9's or 18x10's. Let me know which you think would look better..and yes, both will fit, im not worried about that.

I'm leaning towards the 18's just because I want 295's out back, and they don't have anything wider than 9" for the 17's.

I say go for the 18's. I used to have 17inch TT2's but sold them because I still thought they were to small looking.

Are you going for looks or speed? 17's for speed and 18's for looks. 18's will give you a slower 1/4 mile time due to the extra weight.

How much will it reduce my 1/4 mile time? Will it be really noticeable?

more than you think, at some point you have to decide if you wanna be deadly on the street or have the disadvantage of lookin good. But if your gonna race and you got the dough which most of us here got, just get the 18s then get ur self some bogarst with aset of stickies...::D

When i get them i am doing 17x9 front and 18x10 rear.

Very nice wheels....sure they are available in 18x10? if so why not just get the 18's with dr's? thats what im planning on.

mr_nate Jul 1, 2004 12:00 PM

What I think i'll do is put the m/t DR's on my stock 16x8's and just put gs-d3's on 18x10's all the way around, either 295's or 315's out back, and 275's out front. It should look pretty good :drive:

HAMRHEAD Jul 1, 2004 09:40 PM

Don't get the 315's if your going with the GS-D3's. They run a little to wide for fitment. The 315 nitto's fit but not the GS's. I have 285's on my 17X10 wheels in the GS-D3's and they look nice and fit nice. You might be able to go with the 295's but thats it. 275's up front work nice too.

HAMRHEAD Jul 1, 2004 09:43 PM

You could also go Nitto 315 out back and 275 GS-D3 on the front. I was going to go with that till I decided to wait since I still have a factory 10 bolt and sticky tires would kill it for sure.

Is there anyway to offset the speed lost by getting the 18's. What would need to be done to keep the current 1/4 mile time with 18's?

HAMRHEAD Jul 2, 2004 10:55 AM

Cheaply you could throw in N2O and gain quite a bit. Or throw on a catback, or LT's or some moderate mods.
