Default Toyo Proxes TQ vs. Nitto NT05R vs. M/T S/S Drag Radials

Hello guys, I'm currently in the market for some drag radials and would welcome any and all feedback that is similar to my application.
Car details are in my signature and is primarily used for roll racing on the street, the suspension is setup up for handling so drag strip performance is a moot point.
Car currently makes about 650 whp through a T56 but will be in the upper 700 whp range next summer.
My NT05's have been performing well but I'd like to put the power down more effectively and with more power coming on tap a stickier tire will be needed.
The car sees maybe 1,000 miles per year, sunny weather only, handling isn't critical, must have some semblance of tread since rain can roll in quickly where I live.
I'm considering the Toyo Proxes TQ, Nitto NT05R and Mickey Thompson S/S based on price and tread design.
Any real-world feedback from similar setups would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Well I run the NT05R in a 315/35/17, and with about 600 rwhp/650 rwtq through a T56 and 4.10 gear, I spin all of 2nd gear from a roll. So with that said you might wanna try the MT lol. I've also ran the Toyo TQ and its very similar to the NT05R

Yeah see that's what I was afraid of and I'm using a 3.73 gear.
Second gear blows the tires off as soon as boost comes in and third gear is hit or miss depending on the surface and whether my tank is full or not lol.
The ambient temp is usually 60-70 degrees as well so I need a decently sticky tire.
I like the ET Streets but I just can't bring myself to spend over $300 per tire.

Take a look at the Hoosier DR2 also. Hook better than Mickey's but rain at any speed is not a option

Yeah that rules those out then.
I live in the PNW so rain can come out of no where.
Plus this is a legit street car so if I can't get caught in the rain then that negates the whole purpose.

Wow I didn't realize the MT SS was that expensive in that size. When I checked on those in that size I thought it was around $230 or so

Hey man I've been in a similar boat but with an auto trans. From a roll it's not that different. I think you'll find like HCI2000SS said, Toyo Proxes TQ won't hook (555R and Toyo R888 are essentially the same stickiness). You'll wanna run an MT SS radial or run the Hoosier DR. The Hoosier's have a softer sidewall so you def know they're there, I ran them back in the day and they deadhooked 450rw h/c auto car on the street with no prep from a dig in 75+* weather.

I'm planning a street tire on my 17x9s (current setup), an MT Radial on my 17x11s due to the tread for street/nice weather duty, and a biased ply 15" rear slick with matching front runners for a track setup.

Mickey's or Hoosiers. Nittos and Toyos work fine for bolt-on cars and that is about it...especially with thin sidewalls. 8 tenth difference for me going from a 315/35/17 Toyo TQ to a 275/50/15 MT.

Excellent.
I'm gonna pick up a set of the Mickey Thompson S/S this go around and see how they do.
Thank you for the input guys!

How is that possible from just a tire swap? Got the track slips?

2.0 60' to a 1.6x 60' or along those lines is my guess

Good call on the Mickeys
I went from TOYO TQ proxes to the ET street S/S and it was a night and day difference...275/40 in the M/T almost dead hooked from a 1st gear roll with 4.10s...1st gear and half of 2nd would be useless if I tried that with the 275/40 TQ's
If you wanna hook at your power level and still be ok in the rain, I wouldn't consider anything else...enjoy

FYI It was not just a tire swap...I went from 17x9 & 17x10.5 TTM's to 17x4.5 & 15x10 dark stars.
