ET Street S/S - Nitto nt05r - Nitto 555r or....? looking for a set of rear tires, going to be using factory 17x9 ws6 wheels with a 275/40 17 tire. not much of a daily driver just here and there, more weekend with some express way driving when needed, very very little track time. biggest mods as SS3600 and 373, would like something to help with the tire spin and hook some what on the street. go.... |
Have you also looked at the Toyo Proxes TQ? The MT will hook the best but wear the fastest. I run the NT05R and like it. Just depends on what you want |

If you're concerned about driving in the rain go with the NT555R, otherwise I'd probably stay away from it. UNLESS you're doing a lot of miles because it will wear the best. I'm running the NT05R on my stock rims in the stock size and like them but the car is rarely driven, never in the rain. Wear is not a concern for me but handling is. Combined with the stock size NT05's up front the car handles very well. I'm happy with the setup, but that's coming from a car that isn't making a ton of power. |
no rain driving here if i can and not worried about getting caught here and there. looks like i will be going NT05R's, but those mickey et street s/s look so tempting also. |
The NT05R actually handles well for what it is, and wear is better than I expected |
think im just going to order NT05 front and NT05R's rear |
Sounds like a plan |
I have 245/45/17 Michelin Pilots on Race Star 17x7 and 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson e.t. streets on on Race Star 15x8's. I've considered getting a set of c5 z06 wheels which are 17x9.5 or some chrome ZR1's. Is ET Street S/S, 275/40/17 the best option for the rear? Maybe just widen them to 17x10.5 and put 315/35/17 on? I'll do a search but I'm assuming they will rub without modification. I have a Dana Strange S60 rear end that's been reduced in length by 3/4" on each side and I'm lowered so doubt they will work without cutting the bumpstops and rolling fenders. |

With either of those tires, ANY kind of rain is absolutely not a option. |

Car never sees rain so those may work out just fine. |
Run no more than 20psi in them or you will wear the middle of the tire more than the edges. |
I have 275/40r17 et street ss's on my car. the hook pretty good, and would probably be better on your auto car then mine. 4.30 gears and t56 I can still burn them into 4th, but if I try I can get the car to stick from a roll. |
ET streets are bad ass, ask me how I know. |

ET street S/S are amazing tires. Awesome on the street and I've gone 10.1 @ 135 MPH with a 1.6 sixty. Size 275/40 17. |
Do the NT05R hook better than the 555r? |

Do the NT05R hook better than the 555r? The Nt05R really is a nice all around radial all things considered. |
