Default Compound Vs Width?

Which one hooks better under the same circumstances - 275 MT ET STREET R - or - 315 Nitto 555R? Both on a 17" rim.

The MT's are giving up about an inch per side, but the tread pattern and compound seems to favor the MT's.

What do you guys think?

Seeing how 9 second cars can run on 275s I'd say compound is more important. But I also don't know **** so *shrug. Let's see what the pros think.

Oh and I've gotten 1.8 60 times with about 330 whp on 255 Nitto's but can barely get 2.2 60s on 315 Sumi street tires with 400 whp.

The 275 mt street R will hook much better.

Even if the Nitto 555r was one wide single steam roller in the back, the Street R would hook better.

On a 275 28" mt street R people have gone 1.1x 60's
There is all but zero shot at doing that on a 315 555r.

Another tire to look at is the Hoosier Dr2

Compound is going to have much more of a difference than 1" of width. This will become even more apparent as the amount of power you make goes up.
