These have been my dream wheels for at least 15 years. I was finally able to afford a set so I emailed CCW in December and was told they had been discontinued long ago. I was trying to get comfortable with the reality that the only way I would get a set is by scouring the internet regularly for someone selling used. A few days later though, CCW emails again saying they found 11 blanks that could be machined into a brand new set for me. I put in the order on January 9th and 3 days ago, finally took delivery of the wheels.

All 4 are 18" x 9.5". They weigh 23 lbs bare, 50lbs with the tires. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza Sport's. I ordered 275/35r/18 from my local tire place but they instead ordered 265/35r/18. I wasn't going to fuss about losing 10mm so I'll just run them.

I think they look great but I am surprised at how far away from the hub the center is. The old lug nuts are sunken way in there and they're 1.75". With the Torq Thrusts, 100% of the lug nut was exposed. For the lug nuts to be flush with the bore opening, they would have to be 2.5" and I can't find any lug nuts that tall.

These are just driveway pics for now, when the weather clears up I'll get some proper beauty shots.

Yeah, I don't remember the "original" 505a from many years ago having the spokes quite that far out (flush) either, I recall them having a bit of dish (or at least appearing more inset). If offset is still the same, then I wonder if the mounting pad is thicker on these new ones?

It's not just about the width though, since the aspect ratio is the same (35%) the tire is also shorter than a 275 version of the same. The sidewall is already quite reduced from the stock 275/40 or 245/50 options, so the ride quality might be even more harsh than is typical of going to an 18" wheel. 265mm can certainly be used on a 9.5" wheel, but when speaking purely of aesthetics, I consider a 275mm to be the narrowest tire than can look good on a 9.5" (actually, 285 looks perfect but that's not always available).

If you ordered 275s and they messed up the order, I would insist on them making it right. But that's just me.

Either way, nice wheels and congrats!

Thanks I feel extremely lucky. What lug nuts are you running with your 505's?

Thanks! I didn't realize the sidewall is shorter on a 265 so that changes things. I was already concerned how the ride would be affected going to an 18" wheel. I was even considering a 275/40r/18 but thought it looked a little too big.

The lug nut situation looks normal for CCW. I have not bought any since around 2005 or 2006. Don't even want to know what they cost now.
