i'm missing the factory lugnut key... i bought my ws6 in may, and i didnt rtfm and realize that theres a stinking lugnut key. i dont have no stinking lugnug key. i know i can have a shop yank them off for cheap, but all the same i'd rather just order another key and not even have to take my car to the shop. i searched and read about some card that came with the vehicle giving the id# for the key, but i dont know if thats the only way to get a replacement. i do have the original keys with the key knockouts and of course the vin# and the like, can i use that info to get another lugnut key? |
The Dealer will have to get a hold of a company called Amcor Inc... They are the one's who make the factory wheel locks... In order for you to get a new one, they require the I.D.# of the original key wrench. |
hehe, so i'm screwed then. right? no big deal, i gotta get some warranty work done anyway. might as well have the lugnut key problem taken care of while i'm at it. thanks for the info. |
happend to me too!!! i had to rip the shit out of the old ones to get them out, just banged a 20 socket over them to get them off and spent 20$ for new ones from gm, the new ones are a lot better too |

I bought some plain lugnuts to replace my "super secure unstealable lugnuts" and have been much happier since  It is now easy for me to remove my wheels. My wheels are still on my car - they haven't been stolen yet :) However, I am quite concerned though that someone may try to steal my windshield wiper blades, so I have spot welded them to the wiper arms and wrapped them with some heavy duty chains... :eek2: Just kidding, but you get my point... The locking lugnuts are just idiotic - they are a pain for you and NO real deterrence for anyone that wants to steal your wheels - loose them NOW!, LOL... |
Your local GM dealer has a key set. Drive the car up to them and have some proof of ownership and they'll take the locks off. Once the locks are off you can replace them with regular lugs; then you can order a complete set with a key. You can also check the owners booklet because the key card may still be there. With that card you can order a new key. |
