Default Mickey Thompson DRs vs. Nitto DRs

OK, I'm stuck... I can't decide between the MTs and the Nittos. They are going on the 17" stock 10 spoke rim.

Which one? Which size?

Thanks.

The Nittos will definitely last longer on the street because the MT's are so much softer. At the the track there will be no comparison with the MT's being the better tire. It's a compromise either way for traction or durability.

If you drive the car in the rain... EVER.. go with the Nitto's.

For the best all out traction, the MT's are being compared to slicks But they are not an all weather tire.

Never sees anything but a sunny day. It's a street/strip car that saw 1700 miles last year. I will go with the MTs. Do you think they will last one season (about 2000 miles)?

Any one know where the best price on MT DRs is? All of the major distributors I've looked at are incredibly expensive.

I think I'm going to Jegs.com unless someone knows where I can get it cheaper. They are $177.99 and they ship for free... well, they are charging $5.99 for non-box shipping but that's still free in my book for a tire.

Anyone know where you can get them cheaper?

I would buy the m/t because the name itself and they look the best of the 2 by far.

Intersting. A good friend of mine has the BFGs on his TA and he didn't like them. He told me the Nittos that he has now are much better. That's why that wasn't even an option in my original post.

Anyone else have anyinput on the BFGs?

I have set of 15" MT D/R's now, and also have a set of 17" Nittos. The MT's hook like crazy, they got me the 1.50 and broke my rear and trans They are VERY soft, feel like bubblegum when you touch 'em. i doubt they'd lst 5,000 street miles, but that is a WAG. The nittos are a better everyday tire, the MT's are pure race use for me.

My application is mostly track and some cruising on the weekends. No daily driving. I want maximum hook.

It sounds like you need the M/T then. From what I've heard, they are hooking more like ET Streets/Slicks than a drag radial. They might not last as long when driven on the street as Nitto, but everyone sure talks about how well they hook.

Just my personal experience, your mileage mary vary LOL, but the 26X10.50 DR's hooked better for me than a 26X11.50 ET street. They are certainly hooking more like ET drags than ET streets. The DR's have a much softer compound (R1 vs M5) than an ET Street. I am sure a set of ET Streets would last longer. I have 15X10 Prostars with ET drag radials, 15X8 draglites with ET Streets, and 17X9.5 SS Spokes with 275/40 Nittos, so I have tried them all
