Default 18x10.5 z06 motorsports wheels..what size tire?

I'm looking to put some 18x10.5 z06 motorsports wheels in the rear on my 98 C5 vette. what is the widest tire I can fit on this rim and will still fit on a 98 corvette. i was thinking they probably make some kind of tire like a 335/35/18 but would you need to modify anything to make that fit?

Michelin makes the Pilot Sport in a 335/30R18, but you need a 12" wide wheel to mount it. The stock size is 295/35R18 on Z06 Vettes, no rubbing. You can use a 315/30R18 tire, but it's about 0.60" shorter than the stock size, and will change the speedo slightly. Lingenfelter makes a mini-tub kit for C5s, letting you fit up to a 345/30R19, but you would need 19"x12" wheels.

Why 10.5's. I saw a 18/12 Z06 wheel somewhere on the net (sorry I can't remember where). I did see the link to the site on digitalcorvettes.com I was reading about them and the place said they would fit on a vette with no modifications required.

I found a deal on some 10.5" ones. so i'm just looking for a good tire for these. I'm sure an 18x12 is quite expensive compared to these set of 4 for $700.

Yeah $700 is pretty cheap and I know about trying to save money. I thought the same thing when I purchased my wheels. I got 9.5's all the way and I could kick my butt for not spending the extra money and getting a 10.5 in the rear.

I have 18x10.5" +58mm at all four corners, 275/35/18 front tires, 295/35/18 rear tires. sits and looks good.

They make a mini tub kit for the vette. I think it allows you to run as large as a 335 on the back.

mini tubbing requires cutting the fender well out and bolting in the new lingenfelter tub kit. I'm not cutting up a nice C5. i just want some wide tires for a 10.5" wheel, that require NO modifications.

so the 295/35/18 seems to be what i'll go w/. so what brand tire should I get? I want best traction w/out useing a drag radial.

Kumho's hook relatively well for street tires. But you're asking a lot for traction out of a street tire.

Well in your first post you mentioned a 335 tire on the back. I was just giving you your options. Im in the market for a vette and I have no trouble putting the mini tub kit in once i get it. I think a 335 on vettes look sweet ***
