I thought I would get traction with the 315s but it didn't happen :ripped:

They just spin if I step on it without even dumping the clutch :(

They look good, run really wide but be careful of rubbing issues without spacers if you get the 315s

02Warbird Feb 22, 2005 07:17 PM

I think they're perfect for my power levels (350 rw). I only have a few hundred miles on them, and I can't chirp third with them (use-ta-could with stockers). I love them.

I really like mine.

Nice ride. These tires have to be one of the best looking tire.. if not the best looking tire.

I agree. Those and F1 supercar tires

matts22 Feb 22, 2005 09:13 PM

Hope they don't rub the inner fenders like mine.

jimmyblue Feb 22, 2005 10:14 PM

I have 285/40R17s and lowered 1", have no rubbing. They look
just a bit over-width but the height fills the wheel well nicer
than my old F1 275/40R17s. They stick way better, great in
the rain, so-so in the cold (like 40s and below, a lot more
wheelspin and some hop; normal 70s-80s they just stick and
go). Excellent tires.

Are these GSD3's a good alternative to Nitto drag radials?

matts22 Feb 22, 2005 11:37 PM

Well, they aren't drag radials, but they are pretty sticky and will probably last a lot longer.

Ryan02SS Feb 22, 2005 11:40 PM

I love the performance of my GSD3's. Great wet traction, hardly any road noise associated with these tires, stick very well when it's warm outside. IMO They are the best street tire out there. They are not going to compare to a Nitto 555R when it comes to racing at the track. I can't shift the 1-2 at the track above 5K rpms as they will spin badly upon hitting 2nd and I have to pedal the gas to get them to stick. They hook pretty good on the 2-3 shift with little spin. The Nitto is a much softer drag compound which is why they hook better than the D3's. They also only last 10-12K compared to the 20+K the D3's get. Over 400rwhp and it's hard to get any street tire to hook well.

they won't hook as good as nittos (on dry pavement), but they're a better "all around" tire.

well I ordered them at 5pm yesterday, and they got here at 10am this morning. I called up Tire Rack and thanked them for their AWESOME shipping. I am having them mounted at my buddies shop as we speak, so hopefully I will see some drive time with a bit of daylight left today. They are the exact same size as my stock Sumitomos 245/50/ZR16 (97Y) on stock chrome 98 rims, so I dont think they will rub. I cant believe how wide they are, they measured 10.5" wide! Holy shit!!! But anyway thanks for the comments, I am so excited to have tires with more than 1/32" tread. hehehe

oh also would you guys recommend a certain inflation pressure? I ran my sumi's at 31 and they showed evidence of overinflation (???) I think with the right pressure they will work AWESOME with my going on 350rwhp camaro. :) will get some pics too.

Like everyone says, they are really good tires. With all of this rain that we have been having in california, they have treated me well and still allow me to do my usually 80-85 on a wet freeway. Great tires and they look good. The only downfall is that they are pricy.

Yeah and the guy at the tire store (alignment shop) told me they were the same as stock. I said, well they are 275 like stock, but they are physically wider. He said, "thats not possible, 275 is 275" and I said, "I saw them, they were like 2 inches wider!" and he just looked at me like I'm an idiot. I was like, you sell tires, you should know that they can vary somewhat.

Anyway, congrats on the new tires. I always keep mine right at 30ish on the pressure, but I haven't checked real close to see how they're doing (only about 1000 miles or so).

yeah man thats weird. my sumis were 245s but these are mad wider. Its bizarre. But anyway I drove em home jsut now, couldnt really test em out  due to traffic, but already its feels like a brand new suspension lol. You can jsut FEEL them stick to the asphalt, its amazing. I guess anything would be amazing though coming from my old ones.

So hey anyone looking to get tires, Tire Rack has GREAT shipping time, and a lot fo bizarre sizes in stock. I guess you all know this but I'm gonna have to let somee of my friends know. Also I left in my thank you message that I am from LS1Tech.com so maybe they will give us better prices eventually hehe :)
