17x11 & 9.5 What tires do you recommend?
Greetings,
I am looking for tires for my 01 WS6.
I've gotten all of the mods done on my car through advice from LS1tech, so I am here for advice on tires.
Can you guys give me your experience and opinions on which tires to use? I would also appreciate what size of tire you recommend.
My TA is a daily driver, so I need something that works in the rain. I usually don't drive it in the rain because I also have a truck, but I figure I should get a tire with a little rain traction.
She doesn't see snow, so no worries there.
I have the 17x11 in back an 17x9.5 in front. American Racing Torq Thrust II's.
I have heard to put 315 in back, 275's in front, 35-40 in height.
I also heard about GY F-1 Eagles are pretty good tires.
All Maserati's come off the production line with Pirelli's, so I guess I can't go wrong.
But anyways, what do you guys suggest?

GY GS-D3's are a very nice tire especially in the rain. Pirelli's are nice to. Yes I would run 315/35's in the back 275/35's in the front. Also GS-D3's run a little wider than other tire's. This could be good or bad depending on what your looking for. But either way I don't think you can go wrong with the GY's or Pirelli's

As far as tire selection, I havn't found the fronts to be that crucial. That being said I dont drive very aggressively. I have owned many many many sets of rears. They all seem to wear abnormally fast. Like I said i do not drive aggressively. I have had everything from michelin sports, to pirelli's, to goodyears and Sumitomos. Sumitomo was by far the cheapest. at 119 a pop from tirerack.com that is DIRT cheap for a 315. The pirelli's, michelins, and sumitomos all seemed to wear about the same. The goodyear seemed to last the longest, but lacked the most in the traction department. Hope this helps

oh and if you want an absolutely massive looking tire, get the BFG KDW. The way they make it, it looks absolutely huge on the wheel. My buddies seemed to wear pretty decent, and he drove aggresively.

Tires
Okay, I have the same set-up. 02 WS6, with 17x11 & 9.5 TTII's. I'm running BFG KD's, because I never drive it in the rain. I'd go with the BFG KDW if I were you. They look very aggressive and handle very well. Also, go with the 315/35 and 275/40. I could send you an e-mail this evening with a picture of what it looks like if you want.

For years I've been running the Yokohama AVS Sport for the street. 315/35 and 275/40. These tires have outlasted anything else I've tried, yet are still very sticky, and work great in bad weather. I live in Colorado, and have even had good experiences with them being caught in suprize snow storms.

You guys recommended these:
275/40ZR17 Front
315/35ZR17 Rear
But I do not see the ZR17's @ TireRack.com, only the:
275/40YR17 (F1 GS-D3)
315/35YR17 (F1 GS-D3)
Are these equally as good? I believe the rating is still 186mph (YR). Let me know.
DiscountTireDirect.com has the ZR rated tires, they are a tad more expensive.
What do you suggest?
Thanks.
