17"/11"s and slicks??

does any one have any idea whats a good drag tire for 17" by 11" rim besides BFGoodRich or Nitto's .I wish Mickey Tompson wound make a ET Street or Drag or even a drag radial for our 11"/17's .I have lonched at every rpm with my M6 and nothing but smoke and i have a 3:91 gear .I get better times on motor than i do with N.O.S. and i have tryed every air pressure to .I've got ajustable torkarm .ajustable shocks, removed my front sway bar ,all polly bushings all round :( :bang:

I thaught that it was to dangeraes to run a 275/40/17 on a 11' rim .the tire was to narrow, now as for the ET-Street that is the first time i've seen that size but how could it fit a 11" rim when it's the same size as the et-drag radial ?????????

Casper9T9 Mar 31, 2005 01:16 PM

Sound like you need to switch to a 15" wheel.

Tally TransAm Mar 31, 2005 02:46 PM

the 17" et street is a bad bitch and will work fine on a 17x11

Randy WS6 Mar 31, 2005 07:12 PM

Has any body tryed the et-streets on a 11" rim yet, just don't want to blow them off the rim under low air pressure at the track.

Yes and they work great!

MT reccomends against the 275/40/17 on a 11'" rim....

i would hope so, but the tire in question is a 26x1150x17 et street

Randy WS6 Apr 1, 2005 05:19 PM

Yes,will the ET-Street fit a 11" rim . I would not try a 275/40/17 on a 11" rim ,I wonder because the ET-Street 26/11.5/17 will fit, because of the softer side wall, that will stretch to the 11" rim, than the 275/40/17 Drag Radial has a harder side wall for stability, that will not stretch out that far. I read were the 275/40/17 is compared to a 26/11.5/17 as the same size but the over all diameter is different the ET=Street is 26.5" and the Drag Raidal is 25.7" but both of the are set up off the 26/11.5/17 confuseing and the ET-Street is lighter to. I will not grind my caliper for 15" rim because if i go fast i want to stop fast .I've seen caliper brake into. And the brakes is the last thing i want to go or kill me or some body else. So the ET-Street (WILL) work safely on a 11" rim?????

Tally TransAm Apr 1, 2005 06:19 PM

the et street is 11.5" wide and the 275/40/17 is roughly 10.5" wide

yes it will work fine

mrbobo Apr 1, 2005 06:49 PM

Guys, Mickey Thompson's website is pretty clear about what size rim is acceptable.... +/- 1" of listed rimsize.... The ET Street 26x11.50x17 lists a 9" rim. -> http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip_et_street.html

11" rim is not within their specs, for either the 17" ET Street or the 17" ET Street Radial.

I shore wish they would fit ,i would order them tonight. Hay (TallyTransAm) do you have them on a set of 11" rims or do you know some body that does?

I mounted the 26"x11.5"x17" MT ET Streets on an 11" rim and they worked just fine. They would cut anywhere from a 1.6 to 1.8 60 foot. However I have my stock WS6 wheels back on the car for the street. So I don't have to worry about that anymore! I bought a set of old Firebird 16"x8" to mount some 27" ET Streets on...

I have a set of 16"/8" but will they hook up ? they are nawerer than the 11's, I am thinking of haveing the 16"/8" widened to 10" or 11" to get more rubber on the ground and just put some Nitto's on my 11's for the street .I was just wanting a good set of tire for the street for them "pop up" red light races .The drag radials is'nt werth sh*t on the street much less on the track. If i have the 16's widened for the rear i am going to have the outher two 16's narrowed to 6" or 5" for the front, what is the narrowest 16" tire that i can put on the front?

I run 315/35 17" Nitto's on the street and 27"x10.5"x16" MT ET Streets on the track on a set of 16"x8" Firebird wheels and I usually cut a 1.6 to 1.7 sixty foot at the track. I don't have any major problems with traction.

Hi Folks
I have BFG Drag radials 315/35-17, that is another option for you. I believe I would rather have 12.4" of rubber on the road anyway. Just my two-cent.

I just took off a set of BF Goodrich did'nt last but two mounths and i had Nitto's before them and i like the Nitto's better because of wheir, they last twice as long for the street as far as tracksion both were a bout the same at the track for me.

Hi Randy
I don't use the car as daily driver, so I don't care how long they last but what I want is Traction. Looking at label that came with the tires, wear is rated "00". They are not made for many runs or miles.
