Default BF GOODRICH Drag Radials vs. NITTO 555R???

P315/30R-18 BF GOODRICH DRAG RADIALS vs. 305/35ZR-18 NITTO 555R

first of all, whats the difference between the 315 and 305? which is better for 12" wide rims?

these tires will be going on a weekend warrior street drag car. only the weekends so its not really a daily driver. which tires would you guys recommend?

how many miles will the bf goodrich last for? what about the nittos?

thanks guys

Nitto's 10,000-12,000 miles
bfg 5,000-7,000 miles.

I have owned both. To me the nitto's are not quite as good at the track as the bfg. But the nitto is way better on the street's. Plus I dont like the bfg in the rain.

What he said with the wear in accuate. since this car is a weekend/drag car, i'd go with the bfg's if i were you. if you drove it a bit more then you might be better going with nittos. and if you find that bfg's wont hook good enough, then you might want to check out mickey thompson's et street Radials

would it be smart to get bfg t/a kd for the fronts and leave the drags for the rear to save money because it will last longer? or should i just get bfg drags for all 4 wheels?

i just checked the MT site and they dont have 18x12s that i need. so i guess bfgs are my best bet.

I would get drags on the back only. No need on the front. Also the KDs for the front will be better in any rain. Gotta think about steering.

If it is a weekend car i would ditch the 18's and go to a 15 or 16 inch race wheel like a bogart or weld. The 18 's wont hook up worth a ****. Not enough sidewall flex. The 315 is a size larger than the 305 and would be best for the 12 " wheel. I run 315's nittos on an 11" wheel. As far as which tire is better, well a couple of buddies of mine run the 315, 11" combo as well and the one with the bfg's has cut the best 60'. A 1.59 on stock suspension. But he wont leave the house if there is a gray cloud in sight.lol

I run 345/30/18s BFG drs on a stock suspension 97' Vette and am cutting 1.52-1.55 all day long. Would love to try the 315s to see if they hook as good..........doubt the 305 nittos will hook as good but a loner set would be great to find out

how wide are your wheels? are the bfg strictly your track tires? or do they get to see some city driving?

will driving the bfgs as a weekend warrior in the city with pebbles and bumps on the road eat up the rubber faster than normal? or it wont matter as much?

does anybody have pics of 315 bfgs and 305 nittos on a 12" wide wheel? btw i have a rx7 with lsx swap so 18x12 wheels are needed so i can stun.

i still cant decide whether i want to get 315 bfgs or 305 nittos. i read on another thread that nittos run smaller than their size. i really want to see a pic of a 305 nitto on 12" wheels. thanks guys

18 x 12 HREs
I have driven these 450 miles one way to a vette shoot out in Aiken SC. 25 passes and drove home. Got 1700 miles on them now with 50+ PASSES. No issues other than they are sticky and will pick up any rock smaller than a 1/2 dollar! The drive fine & I can take turns at about 80% of my reg street tires...345/35/18s

damn those rims are beautiful. im guessing like $2500 for all 4? how much wider are the walls of the bfgs compared to the rim itself when installed?

im getting custom work vsxx 18x12s soon. would 335 be my best bet over the 315s? would there be any major difference in looks and performance?

Try 1K each............I got alittle bit better deal to my door but I wanted an all around rim /tire combo to drive 700 miles, auto x, drag race, road race and then drive home. They are heavy 57 lbs ea for the dr & 64 lbs each for the 345/35/18s but I cut 1.75 60' with these..............

Be aware of unsprung weight increase.....the ratio is about 4 to1. Every 1 lb of unsprung increase is like adding 4lbs to the car. But if you make enough power..........who cares, I don't and would go as wide as possible.
As for the side wall, haven't measured it but the dr is 26.2 & the other 27.1 on a 12" rim .

are you saying an entire wheel/tire combo is 120+lbs? thats crazy. $4+k rims. i suggest you but wheel locks for all 20 lug nuts so nobody can steal them. thanks for the info.
