MT ET Street Drag Radial questions
Hey, my 275/40/17 Nitto 555R's are almost bald, and i can get a good deal on some MT ET Street Drag radials 275/40/17. I daily drive the car to and from work about 60 miles every week day on the highway, and im in Miami, FL so we get occasional rain showers and storms. How would these tires handle on wet roads? I've heard that M/T ET Streets are really bad in the rain, but i dont know about MT ET Street Drag Radials. I thought my 555r's handled great in the rain, i never had any issues. please let me know.

They will not do what you want in the rain. I had to drive about 60-70 miles home from the track in the rain last week and I couldn't do much more than 45-50mph before the rear would hydroplane, it was even worse in standing water (about 30mph). These tires have about 500 miles and 3 passes on them. Stick with your 555Rs, I never had a problem with those in the rain either.

My MT DR's 245/50/16 were very sticky in the rain. I actually couldn't believe how well they worked. They are great in the rain IMHO FWIW. My concern for your situation, is they will not last long at highway speeds driving that many miles daily in FL heat. Anywhere from 2000-4000 miles would be my guess not counting what additional wear they will see at the track.

Even in heavy rain, i was ok tooling around town with them. In moderate rain on the highway, I kept it at 50 with no problems with a run to 60 whenever cars weren't around to assess their tolerance. As long as my speed was kept low, I was ok but would let off once it go really heavy.
