Default Best Street Tire?

For a 2002 ss camaro... how wide and what kind of tire... one that will last, and be good in rain and handling, but also be able to hook when needed

You want a really good tire?? Go with the Kelly Evo's.....dont be fooled by the name either. I bought a complete set......they have a really nice directional tread and the grip better than the nittos i used once. In the rain...the are the best tires for it. Even though they are a softer compound, i have not seen any tread wear from just normal driving. I got 275-40-17's......i run them at full tire pressure and they still wont break loose, when my other tires used to shread. Best part is they are only $140 tire. You wont be dissapointed.

I guess i should also add that my car is a lid/catback car.....no heads/ cam or nitrous. Im not sure how the tires would hold up on a much higher HP car. For basically stock, i dont think you can go wrong at $140 a tire. Nittos are good too, i will say that also.

I personally think Goodyear is the biggest waste of $$$ there is. I love my BFG KD's for dry handling & traction, but my car doesn't see rain, so I can't help you there. Of course the're quite pricey compared to the Nittos & such.

I really like my Fuzion Zri. They hook a lot better then my stock goodyears did. The tread is pretty deep, so should last a little while. And they are cheap! I paid $104/tire.

Do a search on them.

Define best. The best rain tire is not the best handling tire which is not the best drag tire. And how radical do you want to get? How about Toyo RA1s or Kumho Victoracers. If you want to hook and handle, these will do it, and they're street legal. They also won't last long, but then again, that wasn't a criteria.

needs to last... i know ive hear its a pipe dream to have a tire that will last, but hook decently and not let loose at low rpms in the rain...

any more input?

Get the GS-D3's. Best pure street tire on the market. Great wet and dry traction, decent tread life, low noise, stiff sidewall, and they run wide already. They were about an inch wider than my stock F1's.

I run Fuzion ZRi's and they work great. Hook pretty damn well and they're cheap too.
