Default Smoothie II 17x10 tire questions...

I have searched and searched......What is everyone running with their 17x10 wheels? I currently have 285/40/17 and cannot stand how the *** sits up in the air. I am either wanting to go to a 275/40/17 tire, any brand, or 315/35/17 Nitto 555r ..... Can anyone guide me on which size would hook better, look better, and be the safest tire for me? All help is greatly appreciated...Thanks

John

It has not been lowered yet. I have Hotchkis springs sitting in my living room to go on later......do you think I will have probs when I lower it with Nitto 315s?

I run 305/35/18s lowered with no problems. If I had 17's I would go with the 315s for sure.

I have the smoothies 2 also and have the 17X8 in front with nitto 555 245/45/17 and in the rear I have 17X10 with nitto 555R drag radial 315/35/17.

I am lowered with a eibach prokit 1.3 and had to roll the lip, use a bfh on the upper wheelwell, cut off about 1/2 of the bump stop and get a adjustable panhard bar. The rear was off about 3/4 of a inch.

If you are not lowered you may be ok. It takes a little work but well worth it. It looks great and hooks great now.

Yes a 315/35/17 nitto drag radial is fine on a 17X10 wheel. It is flush with the wheel and does not buldge out. I wouldn't go any smaller then a 17X10 wheel. I also would not run any other type of 315/35/17 on a 17X10 wheel only the nitto drag radial. They run about a inch smaller then everyone else.

Hope that helps. I can also send you some pictures just PM me you e-mail address.

sometimes an inch is longer than you think..just beat the hell out of the inside near the bumpstop. that should take care of your problem..good luck

I ran them with the Prokit springs and i had to cut the bump stop completly out and roll my inner fender lps on both sides and use the BFH to pound the inner fender.....adj PHR also. but in the end it was so worth it...... 315's out back are the best loking tire for ou cars in my opinion. i agree with what was said above also..... Nitto 555R's run a lil smaller then most brands 315's so u can use them on a 17X10... on there site it says a 10" wheel is ok....

Why did you cut the whole bumpstop out? I took off about 3/4" only. Also where did you use the bfh at mostly? Thanks
