Default Need some help with my polished C6's

Took the car and got it washed at the local carwash, and when they were done, the polished wheels were F*&$ed up! All four wheels were cloudy and you can tell that something went on them that shouldn't have!

So my problem is, what do I do? I already got them repolished for free cause they f'ed them up, but I don't have time to wash my car every week myself. Is there something I should tell them not to put on the wheels? Has anyone else had any problems with polished wheels at car washes?

Wheel cleaners at car washes are acid based. I am very surprized your wheels are not clear coated.

Are they supposed to be? I got them (they're reproductions by the way) a few weeks ago off of eBay, and I just dont want to have to repolish them all the time, or better yet keep them from getting messed up. Is the only solution to do it all myself, or should I just ask if the solutions they are using are acid-based?

Well a test, if you were to use a polish on the wheels does the towel turn black?

If the towel turns black then they are not clearcoated and will require plenty of maintenance to keep them looking good.

If the towel does not turn that the wheels are clearcoated, and what ever the car wash uses is EXTREMELY acidic, if it dulls/clouds the clear.

Get a Mother's Powerball and a drill, it makes polishing much faster and easier!

I can't live without mine... I think the design of the wheel makes a big difference in how much the Powerball will help you out. It works great on my ZR1s and other 5 spoke designs, or something with a large flat surface like a Weld Draglite.
