Default what is the stickiest tire one can run without blowing your rear?

on a stock rear end...97 Z28 to be specific...6 speed?

i know slicks would destroy it...do i need to beef anything up to run drag radials? or should i be fine?

It's a matter of chance, really. Some people do 100 passes and no problems, but there's those who do it once, and grenade the rearend. It's your choice.

Some people blow the rear on stock tires. It depends on the car.

you shouldnt have to beef up the rear end for drag radials...when you hit slicks you might wanna though...

Tough question to answer. I have seen people running, Mickey Thompson ET Street on a stock 10-bolt, But I seen people blow their rears on the factory supplied F1's If you want to play you need to be prepared to pay

6 speeds are notorious for tearing up 10 bolts due to the shock load.
My brother tore up 13 rear ends on his 96 T/A bolt on 6 speed car with street tires.
It is now a Heads/Cam/Stalled/Auto with 315/35/17 BFG KD's out back and the Auto seems a lot more forgiving.

auto's seem to hold up better than 6-spds. I've seen some autos with a 4200 stall, et streets, pull the front wheels on a stock 10 bolt. then again i've seen people break their rear end pulling outta the local dairy queen....it all depends.

i guess it depends, i took a set of new et streets and spun them till 3rd gear a few weeks ago. That was a 5500 drop. And before that i was praticing on them for about 4 days in a row. Still no look. So I guess it all depends.
