265/35/18tire fit 18by9.5 rims

just wanted to know if this size of tire fit the corvette rims. the corvette rims will be going on a camaro????

Lithium 08-17-2005 02:08 AM

Yeah it will fit, its a pretty small tire though. I would only run that size in the front if the front rims are 18x9.5. You can run 285's if you wanted to in the back. I have been reading that 295's are to much for that size rim, but a lot of people are fine with that size.

I am going to put a 265/35/18 on my Z06 18x9.5 rims on a few days.
The price of the tires was way to good to turn down, pair of Yokahama AVS Sports with full tread for $100.

i have the 265/35/18 on my 18x8.5 fronts...like mentioned above, get the wider tires for the rears

The narrower tires on the front will also help handling, so thats another plus.

For a Camaro the perfect tire is the 275/35ZR18, same OD as stock.

XstaZ28, what tire sizes would you recommend for a TA running the OEM C6 18X8.5s in front and the 19x10s in the rear?

Thanks,

Xsta Z 28 08-17-2005 09:46 PM

245/40ZR18 front and 285/35ZR19 rear would work well. a 295/35ZR19 would be OK too.

Xsta Z 28 - I really dont feel like creating a thread for this as well. But I got a pair of 275/40/17 tires that I want to put on some OEM Y2K's. Stock sizes are 245/45/17 its a 8.5" rim, I am pretty sure that they will fit but as far as safety goes what do you think?. Thanks.

they're just about equal...

Xsta Z 28 08-18-2005 02:33 PM

A 275, needs a 9" wide wheel per manufacture's recommendation

This seems like a good tool but there is no indication of the rim widths they are basing the numbers on. As XstaZ28 points out, the same size tire will sit differently on a 8.5 vs a 9 or 9.5.

i just had my c6 wheels put on today. 17x8.5 in front with 275/40/17 and 18x9.5 in back with 275/35/18 and everything is working out fine for me. This is on a 2000 trans am btw.

Lithium 08-19-2005 01:05 AM

I am just worried about the saftey of doing that you know? I dont want to take any chances if I go with that tire on a 8.5" rim.

The Wreckoning 08-19-2005 01:14 AM

just wanted to know because the 265/35/18 tires were cheap

Lithium 08-19-2005 01:30 AM

Oh yeah, sorry if I hijacked your thread :bang:

That's why I have them on my fronts. They look great and handle well, so I'd go for them again in that size. As for the rears tho, pay just a bit extra and get them just a bit wider, you'll be happy you did :D
