Default Bought some snow tires, need advice!

Hey guys, I picked up some snow tires from a member on the board, they are lightly used Blizzak WS-50s. They are about a year old and have about 3,000 miles on them. Winter is still a ways away what should I do to keep them in good condition and soften them back up a little bit. They have been in storage for a year and I just want them to be ready when the snow starts falling!

Thanks guys

I never do anything with my snows. I take them off in the spring and put them on when the first snow hits. There's nothing you need to do to soften them up. Not sure why you'd want to? Blizzaks are super soft to begin with and it doesnt' take much to chew them up. The outer tread compound is more like foam rubber than tire rubber. I had a set of WS-50's on a 94 V6 Camaro but I got divorced shortly after I put them on and it was the ex wife's car so I dont' know how well they fared in the snow. I've ran other model Blizzaks on other vehicles and they did fine but they wear too fast for me. Firestone makes Winterforce tires that have a real agressive tread and last longer than the Blizzaks. They're not quite as good on ice but I'll take better wear over slightly less ice performance.

Mount and balance them, keep them in a cool dry place (on their sides, not on the tread), dress with your favorite tire dressing.
That's all I ever did to mine, kept them in the garage all summer. put them on about mid Nov, took them off May 1st

I got a set of ws-15's back in 2001 from a board member (pretty sure it was here... maybe one of the other camaro forums). They were used for 1 winter I believe.

I drive less than 1000 miles a winter, so there's still quite a bit of thread left. This will be the 5th winter for them. Depending on how much driving I do, i might even go for a 6th winter.

As stated above, just take them off, store on the sides.

When putting them back on check air pressure. That's about it.
