Thumbs down Nitto 555 Where is the tread!

I just purchased Nitto's 555 tires for my trans am. The outter part of the tire has next to no tread. Don't know how this tire rides but i'm a little uncertain with the tire. People say it is a great daily tire. I drive up a dirt road everyday and it just seems as though this tire may be a problem.

Post pics of how your tires look. Nittos have less thread than regular tires. The 555s though are less sticky and have a stiffer sidewall than the Nitto Drags.

Go to www.discounttiredirect.com They have a pic of them it doesn't so it too well. But i will get one asap. The overall tread in the middle is decent but not amazing. The closer you get to the side wall the thinner it gets which seems cheap in a way. But i may complain now and love the tires once i put them on. I will update this thread asap

Drag radials can't have depth to the tread. Because the compound is soft, a deeper tread channel or taller tread blocks will handle horrible. A hard compound will be stable (like all season tires). Towards the rounded part of the edge, there should be almost no tread depth at all.

Not sure if you have the regular 555's or the 555r's.

they are regular 555's .. I know the DR's are less tread.. The roads by my house were freshly stone chipped and tard. So with fresh stones all over the road i'm not look forward to putting these babies on anytime soon. I also don't feel like driving the car on the road since i can hear stones hitting the body. What the hell were these idiots thinking! Sorry.. back to tires!

Oh I thought you had the tires on already and were driving with them for awhile. I have the Drag version of the tires and yes they are supposed to look like that. You can see them in my cardomain link.
