Nitto 555's Drag Radial???
OK guys just wanted to know if anyone uses Nitto 555's Drag radial or use any type of drag radial as a everyday tire on there daily driver. Wanted to get some but unsure if there good for everyday use. Also if anyone does how long do they last w/ everyday use, how many miles?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

there are a lot of people that use them as everyday tires. I am one of them. they last me about 8-10k miles. some people can get 15k out of them. its all how you drive, and how much power you are making. they make for a little bit stiffer ride, but you will hook a lot better

I use them on my car and they last me about 12k miles. With the factory F1's I could spin the tires at will, with the Nittos It is MUCH harder. BTW I am using 315's on factory rims.

i've put 15,000 on mine so far, had em for 1yr and a month. I only have about 15% tread left though, but they still drive fine in the rain. I will definately get them again

Nittos are probably the best choice of drag radial for daily driving. I've had them for 3 years. My car isn't a daily driver but I've been caught in the rain a couple times with them and they are fine. I've never seen anyone use drag radials up front, I wouldn't think it's a good idea. Aside from the fact you're really not going to save the tires by doing this I would imagine you might be worse off in the rain trying to control steering.
If you want them for better traction primarily at the track then BFG's or MT Drag Radials would be a much better choice. One option would be to pick up an extra set of wheels to mount the drag radials on.

I can't say I'm happy with the Nitto's either but there are guys cutting some good 60ft times (in the 1.6's) with them. My best so far is a 1.74.
The problem with Nittos is they really need to be heated up in order for them to work. Like I said BFG or MT's are a better choice if you're strictly looking for traction. As soon as I burn these up I'll be getting some MT's.

In the current Drag Radial scene, Nittos rank like this:

There is absolutely no advantage to running drag radials in the front for any amount of time.

i have the 555rs on mine, i havent driven them in the rain yet ,but i have taken a corner at 60 mph and survived , they are kinda like bald street tires

i got my nittos at dicount tire co, they have a website, i think its discountireco.com not sure. i got them for 132 with installation , thats basically as much as they'll be anywhere unless you get some used

Yes, regardless of what the Nitto techs will tell you, they must have at least a 10 second smokey burnout to hook. I daily drove a set of 275/40 17s for about 15K miles, not bad in the rain when new, uncontrolable when worn. My biggest complaint was that they became useless at ambient air temps below 50 degrees, (I mean an all season street tire would have been better!) regardless of burnout! Now I do not know if this is because I heat cycled them badly from daily driving on them, or what, but it was very frustrating when everyone else on BFGs/MTs were dead hooking in 40 degree air on a sticky track and I could not get a 2.10 60' out of them!!

yea, in the cold they suck..but theyre good for street driving. i would punch it in 1st w/ street tires and spin like crazy, hit 2nd and still spin. but not with nittos. i also dont spin when i drop 2nd at about 65 on the highway too.
also, last winter i drove from norfolk to tampa and back on them with no tread at all. i wore them to the cords and they still felt fine.
