I put 285's on my stock ws6 wheels..

Fine n dandy, cept when the steering is turned full lock, it bumps the front of the wheel well...just pushs it in a couple centimeters...

i have 315 nitto drags on my ws6 wheels(9" wide i believe)....they're wearing out in the middle but w/e they look good and hook for the most part...so yea go for it, just dont do anything crazy b/c supposedly its "dangerous" having such a wide tire on such a "skinny" wheel

A 285/35/18 tire should fit without any rubbing assuming the correct offset is used on the rim.
