Default 295 nitto 555 vs. 305 nitto 555r

I have 305 nitto drag radials right now and I am considering switching to 295 series nitto 555 series, it's the largest they go. I am considering this because of my crash, I would like to attempt to get better traction for the next time I get caught in the rain. Two questions... 1) Will I in fact get better traction with these tires in the rain?... 2)Will my traction in dry weather be affected tremendiously?

What siez is your rims? you can fit the 315/35/17s on a 9.5 inch rim and they dont even really bulge.

try not to use and Dr's in the rain, DOT approved or not it's trouble.
