HELP!!! changed brake pads now welds do not fit!

Default HELP!!! changed brake pads now welds do not fit!

ok so i go to put my welds on today and right before i moved i changed the brake pads.............now for some reason they rub the brakes ALOT and i have been grinding for a good 30 min each side and i still cannont get them right!

has this happend to anyone before?

oh yea i have spacers all around and the rear was already ground down but now they rub

Thicker pads=calipers closer to the rim. Get the grinder back out.

That is the nature of the beast with Welds. I had my calipers grinded with half worn brake pads, and then had the same problem that you're having.

I just bought Bogarts, so hopefully I'll be selling my stockers and going back with some non-grinded ones here soon.

Am I losing my mind? Does someone want to explain to me how putting in different brake pads affects anything at all? They fit inside the calipers so how does that make the calipers closer to the rims?

the caliper goes down as the brake pad does.........dont worry its all fixed now and im tired

well the caliper has to open up to fit new pads, its not just the piston that moves, thats why you are supposed to grease the guide pins on the caliper when you do brakes, maybe you are thinking of fixed calipers like on the new z06, only the piston moves for those, so changing pads shouldnt affect much...
