Do 11's in the back slow you down??
 

Im looking to get some rims and i think nothing looks better than some 11's in the back but do they just slow you down? I want at least 9 and a half in the back.But 11's is what i would like to go with.

Coming form the stock 16X8s the weight difference was noticeable, but you get used to it.

several people have told me that it would just slow me down.Just as long as its doesnt slow you down too much it wouldnt be a problem.I dont really take it to the track its pretty much a street car.

Depends on how heavy your new wheel is, some of the 17x9's are heavier than some 17x11's (given the 17x11's I'm talking about are a pretty penny)

Not enough to not do it just for looks! I personally didn't really feel the difference. However, I went from the stock 235/55/16's (yeah, my car is special), to 255/50/16s, to 275/40/17s on 00 SS wheels, to the 11's with 315's in the back that I am currently running...so that's probably why I didn't really feel any difference.

Either way, the looks are worth the little loss in performance.

I can hook up soooo much better, that it 'feels' like it quicker.

i asked this same question before and some guy on here said he lost 13 horses, . . i was thinking of getting the tt2's but th fact that it slows you down some and since it will hook better it puts your rear end into extra stress, . . imma do a 9 inch rear end then im gettin some 315's, . thats me though, . . im gettin some wheel adapters till

Wheel hop is the biggest enemy of stock rear ends. As long as you don't put out much more than 400 rwhp, and don't use super sticky tires on the track every day, the rear will be ok after the addition of a torque arm and lower control arms. Those two mods eliminate all wheel hop. If you spin...the 10 bolt lives....but oh boy...if you hook....it will break.

Mine's been spinning for 3 years, one year or 8k miles with cam and 375 rwhp...so far it's fine.

Rolling mass slows you down... The more rotational mass that you have the more power it takes to get them moving...

i think it a matter of how much HP you have, if its a stock car you might feel it, a little but with all the people saying "man you car looks good!' im sure you would not mind at all. on the other hand if you are makeing over 400HP, all the people that you out run from have a much wider tirewould be worth it also. so i thinks it worth it

Given, wheel hop and sticking will blow a 10 bolt in a hurry. I still haven't seen 1 10 bolt blow up that has hooked on the stock gears (2.73, 3.23, 3.42), it seems that every one that has grenaded has had gears or ALOT of power. There are several down here running 11 teens with anywhere from 400-500 RWHP and the 10 bolt is holding up just fine, as soon as one car put gears in it blew up though. Thats my theory anyway.
