Default 18x10 Rear Fitment

Not so good photoshop of the iForged Concepts on my car.

EDIT: Talked to John at CCW just to get some ideas on prices and such. He suggested 18x9.5F/18x11R, as well as saying that he will guarantee my satisfaction of the fit. According to him, he can get the offset correct so that I can lower it up to 1.5" while not having to touch the fenderlip or fenderwells. That is running a 295/35 on the rear. I asked about running a 10" and he said he would prefer not to have to make it and wouldnt suggest based on looks. He also said that he definitely doesnt recommend running the 9.5 all around due to the small lip. Am I wrong in thinking that I should buy them, and when they dont fit to my liking ie. having to modify lip/well that I run on this guarantee until he can make something that fits??

So I'm getting much closer in the quest to buy wheels and now I'm faced with another decision I don't want to make.

I'm looking at either CCW 505A's in 18x8.5/18x10 or iForged Concepts in 18x9/18x10 Reverse Lip. Now, my problem arises with the plan to lower the car. In doing some searching, BAD *** TA WS6 said that with his lowered over 2 inches, that the fenderlips needed rolling. That is something that I am 100% against. Is it possible to lower the car to a maximum of "X" amount of inches and not have to roll the lips? Example being Strano springs over something such as DMS which are known to drop a good amount. Also fender "massaging" is out of the question as well. I'm just looking for some final reassurance on where it is possible to have the 10s with these requirements. I wish CCW had a 9" option, but in the case that its not possible, It looks like I'll be going with 9" Concepts all around.

not sure on any height, but keep in mind TA fenders give a little more clearance than camaro fenders, which is why they can take the +36mm offset 17x11s when we are limited to +50mm of the same wheel, for 18x10s you normally want to stay around +50mm. so depending on if you can get an offset that tucks in enough without any inner fender/suspension/brakes clearance issues then you may not need to roll the fender lip if you lower it...its always a possibility...

I have 18x10.5s and with my 5/16 spacer, its about a +50mm offset. I didnt need to do any modifications to the car and the finder lip doesnt look like it would be a problem if it was lowered. I'm running 295s. As long as your offset is about 50mm you should be good.

I have 10.5" wide wheels, 295 series tires, lowered 1" . . . but I have a VERY aggressive offset of 38 mm, and I had to roll the quarter . . .

IMHO . . for a Camaro I really do feel a 11" wide wheel is too much, especially with a 315. Now an 11" wide wheel IMHO, is too wide for a 295, series tire too, why? because I feel it makes the wheel look wider than the tire, and I really do not like the look. Granted this is only my personal opinion . . .

And this is why im afraid of buying the wrong thing. Going from people's experiences on here, logic says its not likely. But he assured me there would be no problems, even after I had suggested that I've read anything 10" or wider in an 18 requires modification. I'm wondering how terrible the 9.5" would be all around. Obviously its not the "steamroller" look most people want. Xsta, I absolutely respect your opinion as your cars look amazing. I just wish I had someone say the magic number is "___mm" offset to run a 10" wide lowered 1-1.25". There has to be a happy medium, just seems like I'm not going to find out.

Oh I forgot to add wheel well rolling was only an issue on the passenger side of the car . . . wierd eh? And yes I have an adjustable panhard.

With a 10" wide wheel, an offset around 40 mm I feel based upon what I am running now will work great with a 295/35ZR18 tire.

Yes it only moves the wheel inwards 2 mm compared to mine, but the wheel will be 1/4" (6.3 mm) narrower each side, moving the tire just that little extra bit more away from the wheel well lip.

Just my 2 cents . . .

Thumbs down

Yeah that's kind of weird that it was only the one side like that. I plan on grabbing a Adj. PHB when I lower it. I'm not as opposed to rolling the lip as I am crushing in the inner fender. But if it can be helped, I would prefer to go without it. I think I'll go talk to my buddy at the body shop about rolling them for me so if it did turn out to be absolutely necessary, I would feel a bit more comfort in it. 11" is just far too wide for my taste and LS1tech experience as far as knowing how something generally fits holds a bit greater power than CCW's word of how it should fit.

Oh the offset of 40 mm as I suggest will not need inner wheel well mods.

What offset do they recommedn for the 11" wheel or do they not want to give that up.

If I recall correctly the American Racing 11" wide TT2 has a 46 mm offset. I know someone with that wheel and a 285 /40ZR18 tire and had no issues . . .

He didn't say what offsets and didn't seem all that happy to even talk to me when I started asking about running 9.5 all around or 10s on the back. So do you suppose if you bumped the offset up to around 42mm, it would set it pretty good to avoid some lip work as well? Also, I suppose tire choice will also effect it. I think I would either run BFG KDW2 or Eagle GS-D3s. They both run a section width of 10.9" in a 275/35.

gsd3s are slightly wider than the kdw2s in the 295/35 size ive had both. I really think a 10.5 width would be perfect for you with a 52-50mm offset and a 295/35 would work.

if he wants you to go with an 11" for it to look right you would want 315 but the tire prices are reallly expensive and you would have to roll the fender if its lowered.. Although if you go with 315/30s do me a favor and get the azenis rt-615s and take some pictures for me please hahaha.. I think thats what im going with next.. Theyre about 300 a tire.. anyway...

Are you against rolling the fenders and beating the wheel wells because you really cant tell unless you have the wheels off.. also, what springs are you going with?

Just something that I choose not to do to my 12k mile car. Fender lip is not as bad, but I refuse to beat/massage/fit my fenderwell to wheels. If I could get away with doing NEITHER I would be the most pleased. Personal preference. iForged Concepts are only available in whole sizes unless you get the step lip which I would rather not have. I'm thinking of running 265/35 on the 9s and 275/35 on 10s in a KDW. I think they will both fit the wheels fine. Perhaps Xsta will shoot me some more numbers. So far his information seems to follow what I need. I'm just kind of afraid to go with a 295 because its just that much closer to need to roll.

well i think with the 295s youll have to do something you dont want to do.

you will be fine if you plan on going with the 10" and 275. I dont know why hes trying to persuade you to go different if thats what you want.

Yeah, when I talked to John at CCW it seemed that anytime I suggested something, he told me I didn't want that because "You wont be happy going with anything other than 11" on the back of a Camaro. That's what everyone in gallery is running." If I was everyone I would get some TTII's or ZR1's. I'm not sure if a 40mm on the rear is what I need based on a 275 or what. Also, what should I be running up front with either a 265 or 275?

Oh and not too sure on springs, I'd love DMS if I could go that low, but it might have to be something like the Strano springs that go 1.25".

A 10" or 10.5" wide wheel with an offset just a bit greater that the 38 mm I am running now will fit w/o any mods.

The damage to the passenger side tire was VERY minor, but bothersome to me, plus remember I am running this on a ragtop too, so the rear is heavier.

I really feel a 40 mm to 44 mm offset 10" or even 10.5" wide wheel with a 295/35ZR18 would go on with no mods, even lowered.

Front a 9" or 9.5" wheel with a 275/35ZR18 is PERFECT!

Please paruse this album : http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b28/shudbdrwg/Fikses/
it should answer relieve any of your concerns.

Here is a tight side view of the car:

Front is a 275/35ZR18 on a 9.5" wheel.
Rear is a 295/35ZR18 on a 10.5" wheel.

Notice how nice and square the sidewall of the tire is comared to the rim lip? IMHO, if you go with narrower tires than I sugggest the tread of the tire will be narrower than the wheel . . . . just 2 more cents.

Springs, I suggest 1" drop Hotchkis or DMS, I really do not like the spring rates of any of the Eibach line, the rears are just too squishy . . .

Oh and this is why I do not like a 295/35ZR18 on a 11" wheel . . .

Notice how the side wall is so curved in . . .

FWIW, my wheels rubbed on the outer fender lip even at stock ride height. Very minor of course. If I was hitting on/off ramps every so often I'd hear them rub, or if I had a couple girls in the back (they are usually around 100 pounds LOL no fat chicks).

Every car is different, but that's just my experience. With my car lowered 2.5" up front, with 275/35/18s I had NO issues with rubbing. Out back, I had no choice but to cut my fenders. I took approx. 1/6-1/8" of metal off the rear fenders. Both sides, approx. 6-8" in length. I run 295/35/18s out back, with Michelin Pilot Sports.

I've since raised the car up a half inch. Doesn't look as cool, but I no longer scrape my v braced subframe connectors on backroads. Current ride height is seen in my sig.

If done right, fender modification is un noticeable. My car is babied as well, with 20k miles. It's not something to get all bent out of shape about. I wouldn't steer you wrong...

I'd bet that with Sam Strano springs, etc. You MAY be fine. Every car is different, but I don't think 11" wheels in the back are going to help you...

Stick with a 10" wheel, and the 295s. Oh, and the iForged Classics LOL

Goodyear GS-D3 would solve this problem as they run wider that kdw's.

I am not totally against that look, but like the squared off look better. My 295 Kumhos dont look that stretched on a 11" wheel.
