315's on a 10.5 wheel?

I read the wheel guide, and it said that you can fit a 315 on a 10.5 wide tire. Has anybody done this with out any problems, or should I stick with a 295?

stevensLS1 Feb 1, 2007 09:43 AM

alot of the mustang guys do it all the time. they usually run nitto's since they are a bid smaller. ive also seen them run the bfg's and the goodyear gsd-3's.

Alright, I was just browsing and saw that, the looked up some tires and I think the only ones I could afford at 315/30/18 are the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radials

I've got 315/18 BFG drag radials on my 10.5" wide Fikse's, no problems. I would look into the matter a little more closely before putting a GS-D3 on a 10.5, but I would imagine you would be fine with either Nitto or BFG.

I just put a set of GSD3's 315s on a 10.5 wheel that I bought from TomZWheels and they look great! They looked better than the Sumitros (sp) that Tom sells. The tire has a better rim protector built in. You might want to check it out......

A Summitomo 315 is the narrowest i've seen and a the Goodyear is the widest. I wouldn't think you would have any problems with any of them.

I've seen 315's on a 9" wheel. Not recommended but i've seen it done!

Yup, you should be fine. its the people with the 315s on the 9"s that you gotta worry about, its just not safe. There are requirements for a reason

Generally 315/30/18 works on 10.5-11.5" wheel width so you would be fine with that combination. Just be aware that the 295/35/18 ia about 0.5" larger in diameter than stock and 315/30/18 is about 0.2" smaller in diameter than stock (assumes 275/40/17 stock).

Camaro396 Feb 1, 2007 01:58 PM

i run 315s on a 8 inch wheel. that combo has been high 10s with no problems.

NVR KNO Feb 1, 2007 01:59 PM

yea i put my 315's on my 9.5" zr1's when i first got them. i had to wait for my 11" zr1's to come in. they drove fine, i went as fast as 120 on them. no problem. my roommate has 315's on his 10.5" z06's and they fit perfect. you shouldnt have a problem.

KissMyWhiteSS Feb 1, 2007 02:10 PM

cool deal, I just wanted to make sure there weren't any problems I needed to look out for, it seems alot of people just go with the 295's. I didn't realize that many people went with 315's. Here's my next question, what is one of the best daily driven tire for that size that isn't going to rape me a new a-hole.

Gotta be careful some people flip on here when they hear of 315s on anything less than 10.5

When the 18" x 10.5" wheels came out 295/35ZR18 was really the only available tire, thus why 295's are very popular.

Now more and more 315's are out there, but they still cost an arm and a leg, speaking in 18" diameters.

NVR KNO Feb 2, 2007 09:55 AM

Nittos are a pretty good tire. my roommate and i both use nittos and havent had a problem with them yet. we dont put down crazy power but it gets the job done. they are real expensive they get pretty good mileage out of them and once they heat up, they hook. tread pattern looks cool on them too.

DJ's Z Feb 2, 2007 11:44 AM

For a "daily driver" I'd stick with the Nittos. As you can see the 18" BFG's aren't gonna be the best tire in the wet stuff...

315 Nitto 555Rs and BFG DRs fit my CCW 10.5/17 wheels. Now you might be getting close to a little tire rub with the BFGs; they're noticeably wider than the Nittos.

TXZ28LS1 Feb 2, 2007 02:23 PM

hey guys im looking at 18x10.5 z06.. im gonna go nittos. what is the biggest tire i can fit without doing any modifications on a 1 inch drop?

BFG's run pretty wide too, mine make Nittos 315 look like a 275. I think if he ran any tire he'd be ok, the narrowest being a Nitto or Sumitomo, and the widest being Goodyear or BFG.

Like a 315/70/14 or something?! A 315 on a wheel with any kind of diameter and a sidewall that doesn't look like a truck tire would be absolutely stupid on an 8 inch wheel.

thanks for all the feedback this helps alot.
