MT's or Nittos not sure whether or not to get mt dr's or nitto 555r's. i want some decent tread life, im gonna dd with them so they have to be OK in rain. and obviously i wanna make sure they hook...what do you guys think? im kinda leaning toward the nittos |
i say the nittos!!.... think i am going with them but mine isn;t a daily driver |
Nittos for a DD but they suck for traction compared to the MT's. MT's hook like crazy but wear fast. |
nittos are more of a street tire that you can run on the freeway and as a dd tire i have seen 15000 miles out of a 555r but the mickeys is just like a regular slick just with groves so the can get the dot ok they dont recomend the mickeys for use on the freeway. |
Different animals. For DD Nitto's rock; I just had a pair put on my Z28 today. Buy a second set of wheels and mount up the M/T's for trips to the track. Another concern with the M/T's is that they hook so well, your 10-bolt might snap. Far less likely to happen on Nitto's. |
i actually know a guy who uses them and runs 11.50's....he said the hook great for him so i figured it wouldnt be a prob for me. im pretty sure thats what im gonna go with. the 555r is more of a dr then a street tire though isnt it? |

i dunno, i didnt think they could do that since they're dot approved?? one of my buddy's drove his ss all the time with those things on the back |
I drive on my M/T alot. No problems except they wear quickly. |
the mt drag radials are fine on the highway.. the et streets, not so much. i'd go w/ the nitto's if you dont mind short tread life, i drive too much to dd a set of tires like that. the mt drag radials will last literally 5-7k miles driven pretty easy. |
I got about 12k out of my last set of nittos drving very aggresively. |
i had nittos and they're no better then a street tire :mullet: |
I use Nitto's on the street and happy with them so far. |
Well the choice should be what you are looking for, the Nittos will last longer, the MT's will hook better. I personally dont like Nittos at all I chose the MT's. |
I voted MT, but Nittos hook well for me on the street. They'll dead hook from a 5-10 MPH roll. At the track, not so good. I cut a 1.77, but it was hard as hell to get there. They didn't want to hook for shit. |

For a dd I would go with the Nitto's hands down. You can get them to hook decently you just have to be sure and really heat them up. |

would bfg's be good on the street? i didnt think they hooked very well at the track to be honest |
A lot of the Cobra guys swear by the BFG's on the street. I personally have seen a couple of them and they bite real hard. One of them had 4.56 gears in his 99 Cobra (about 300rwhp) and it still bit hard enough on the street to blow his IRS to pieces. |
