Default "Fixing" chrome pitting, chrome SS rims

I got a set of them narrowed up and they were a crusty
grade to begin with, especially inside. I want to kill the
pitting somehow, thinking of just wire brushing the whole
inside and painting with POR-15 chassis black but if there
is any known good pit neutralizer / sealant I'd like to do
it "properly". These are just "track wheels" so don't have
to be perfect, but want them to be chemically stable.

Not much for "chrome wheel pitting" comes up in the
search, other than complaints.
