DR on stock 16's

I have an extra set of stock wheels sitting around and want to put DR's on them..but i dont want to blow out my rear lol..i'm leaning towards 555r's b/c they dont hook as well which hopefully is good for my rear but last a while. i drive my car less than 10k a year and wouldnt use these half the time..my cars also auto..but do i stand a good chance of blowing my rear out with these and is it worth it to use this small of a tire as a DR?

If your car is auto you should be able to launch all day long with Nittos and not have any problems with your rear.

I have a friend who has run 10.60's on a 10 bolt with slicks and an auto. Time slip to proove it I was in disbelief til I saw the slip my self. But what I am saying is that with an auto you can get away with alot more power and alot more hook because the power is much more forgiving and your rear end gets less of a shock than with a manual tranny. Run some Mickey Thompson DR's at the track. You will not regret it. I do suggest upgrading your gears and axles as well as getting a diff girdle and a good converter.

A4's are very easy on the rear especially if you are a lighter weight car and stock internal. Just be sure not stay in it if you get wheel hop! I'd not even bother with Nittos though because are just a little better than some street tires. If you want tires to hook I'd get something like MT ET street Radials that will actually work well. No sense on wasting money on a second set tires for the track that will only half work.

What mods are on the car anyhow?

Thanks for the info...the car just has a few bolt ons and Im planning a small shot, Im expecting my max rwhp to be 400. I just think with MT i'd be asking for trouble..and i dont mean to get off topic but what are the basic mods to help out my rear..girdle..axles..lca? Im not trying to spend a fortune I hardly go to the track or even get one it but I just want it to be reliable
