CAMAROZ28AQUINO Sep 16, 2007 06:49 PM

well that proves that 295's can fit on a 9.5" rim...looks great, those are my next tires for sure!

95 Z28 Sep 16, 2007 06:53 PM

Nice....I wish they made that tread pattern in my size :( Great tires though...you'll love 'em.

No it doesn't . . . It only PROVES that there are irresponcible tire shops forcing the wrong sized tires onto the wrong sized wheels . . .

ddnspider Sep 17, 2007 11:48 AM

someone asked for more pics.

Xsta Z...you really think they bulge?BFG's website says a 275 will fit a 9" wheel which the tires is 10.8"'s wide but a 295 will only fit a 10" wheel which the tire is 11.6" wide.so theres .8" difference in tread width but an inch difference in approved wheel width?so a 9.5" wheel is like .2" too small?

phantomzer0 Sep 17, 2007 11:51 AM

All Xsta is saying...at least IMO.. is that the widest tire a manufacturer recommends for a 9.5in. wide rim is a 275. Usually that means you can possibly go higher, but it will not be safe. The recommended max and minimum for wheel width is in place for a reason. That's not to say you can't do it though. I think I've seen a 315 on a 9.5 before.

yeah ive heard people say theyve put a 315 nitto on a 9/9.5" wheel b4.thats too far for me,but looking at these they dont really bulge and doing the math theyre fractions of an inch too wide according to BFG.

Bulge has absolutely nothing to do with it. . . .

Manufacturers give minimum and maximum wheel widths for ALL tire sizes. They give those recommendations for a reason. Per BFG a 295/35ZR18 tire, the minumum wheel width is 10". Your wheels are 1/2" too small, thus are disregarding the manufacturer's recommendation. These simple round rubber donuts we all put on our cars are the ONLY things that keep our cars on the road and quite possibly the shiney side of our cars upright. . . .

And to me disregarding tire manufacturers recomendations is jeopordizing safety. And not necesarily YOUR safety but of everyone that drives around you. Tires can fail unexpectedly, improperly installed tires increase that factor . . . I don't like people being unsafe on the roads.

:soapbox:

I'll climb off of my soap box. . . .
