Default Nitto NT-01

Does anyone have experience with these tires? I am liiking to do 315/30-18 and 275/35-18 on my 01 SS. I live 1 mile from work so I don't care about the mileage I will get, I want good traction on the autox and possibly a track day.
Also, I know they are not for the drag strip, but how will these hook on an occasional friday night at the strip?

I am curious too. I have seen a couple of Miata's run them. That's a 2000# car, not a 3400 beast. I was curious about the Falken RT-615 too.

I recently bought a set and used them for a road race track day. These tires are amazing. I picked up speed all around the track. A number of people commented on how fast I was. Before I got the Nittos, I was using BFG G-Force tires. The BFGs are an amazing street tires. However, the Nittos are a true track tire. GET THEM IF YOU CAN AFFORD THEM. If you cannot afford them, go into debt to get them.

I have new wheels now but the 615's are awesome when heated... IM guessing theyd last 15k. They dont really have lateral traction like a drag tire because of the stiff wall but as far as handling and street tires are concerned they are top notch.. Have never tried the nt-01s.

What about Toyo RA1's? I've hear these are great for the street as well and very sticky.

Just compairing apples to apples with the nt-01 and rt-615

From discount tire direct the 615's are $1052

The nt-01's are $1136

The 615's have a 200 treadwear, compaired to the 100 of the nt-01. This is the biggest difference that I see.

How much of a performance difference will there be? For a hundred dollar difference I think the Nittos are the way to go for performance.

Have you had these out in the cold (< 35*F) dry weather yet? If so, do they 'go away' as badly as most other summer only, max performance rubber?? (I'm ONLY asking about their COLD ambient temp left/right/handling/turn in, etc. ability, NOT how well they "launch" off the line!)

I believe that their compounding is softer/stickier than the Nittos (despite having the same treadwear rating), but I'd bet that their sidewall is also MUCH stiffer. So yes, they will handle better than the NT01s, but probably 60' slightly slower, and wear quicker.

Nitto is owned by Toyo and the NT-01 used the same compound as the RA1. I did not have a chance to change back to my street tire. It rained in Southern California to so I had to drive with the NT-01s on the car. I got a major shock. These tire performed much better in the rain than my BFG-GForce tires.
