best dd 315's

what are the best 315's for a daily driver? need to last pretty long, and price is a big factor too.

Really for the price Sumi's are the only option.

I'd go with a nitto 555r dragradial. They offer plenty of wet traction if you're not a total bone head when its rainy out.

It's like I often say to my boss:
  • Fast
  • Cheap
  • Good
Pick two.

Goodyear GSD3's have excellent wet traction, good dry traction (not as good as a drag radial), and last a long time. They're also very expensive.

You just have to decide whether you want to spend lots of money now or spend less money now and have to buy new tires sooner.

DrJsl22 Mar 25, 2008 09:35 AM

how are the bfg's? ive seen some deals on em lately

TXws6 Mar 25, 2008 09:49 AM

too bad the GSD3s wont be back out for a while... they have some major bullshit going on with those on nationwide backorder with no estimated time frame for getting them out. I'm butthurt cuz i have been wanting some since last november. haha. I just jumped on the BFG KD deal that has been on ebay. My neighbor has had then on his vette and has loved them! but he also has 100+hp less than me so who knows how i will like them. I have daily driven the Nitto 555Rs for a year and they were great but i just want something a little bit wider and more streetable.

Bash me if you want, but i'm running sumi's and for the price they are great, but my car is a DD and will never see a race track. I've owned GSD3's before and they were a awesome tire, but they did not last very long and 4 was a little over $1200. Where tomz was running a special on 2 315's and 2 275's sumis for right at $400 plus shipping not to long ago.

DrJsl22 Mar 25, 2008 10:33 AM

bfg's last awhile? are they decent in rain? better in rain than sumi's?

DopdBrd Mar 25, 2008 10:44 AM

I have never heard of GSD3's lasting a long time. Lots of people like them because of their wet/dry traction but as far as mileage goes, they don't last that long.

Sumi's are good tires and cheap. But once again I have not heard of anyone getting great mileage out of them.

Vredesteines are something new that is on the market but everyone has GREAT things to say about them. I don't know if they have been out long enough for anyone to really get a good review on them.

Trying to find a 315 that gets great gas mileage is like finding a needle in a haystack. There are not going to be many and if you do plan on probably paying a pretty penny for them.

hpjunky98 Mar 25, 2008 03:11 PM

NavyBlue99SS Mar 25, 2008 03:32 PM

I have a set of 315 sumi's with less than 100 miles on them somebody can have for $240 shipped to your door.
