Thinking of doing 335's need advice.
 

I would appreciate if someone could give me a little advice. I am planing on widening my rear Y2k's, how wide depends on advice i get. I currently run KDW's on all fours and i would like to continue running them, i love the way they handle and grip plus i have gotten about 26,000 miles on my current KDW's.
My problem arises here, i want to run 315's but there are none in the KDW's. So i am thinking of trying to run 335 KDW's. So i was thinking of making the wheels 11 1/2" wide for the 335's. I know i would need a spacer with new studs, i was thinking some where from 1.5" to 2".
I have seen some cars here on tech that run 335's and they look sick. Thats what make me think i could pull it off. I don't mind BFHing the wheel well.
I am not sure because the widening is done on the inside of the wheel, and most car i have seen running the 335's are running different types of wheels like CCW's. Does anyone think this is a good idea? And would it fit and look good? And what size spacer do you think it would need?

I would love to do the same. My 315s look great but I would love even wider tires. I know there are a few guys running them so hopefully they will chime in. Sorry I didnt help you out any other than also being interested :)

i think the general consensus will be that its not worth it. hell yeah, it'll look good but the problem lies in the fender width. sure, you could use a spacer to bring out the wheel and tire enough to keep from having to hammer on the inner fender, but then your fender is going to eat up the outside of the tire every time you hit a bump. unforunately with 335's its pretty hard to compromise. chances are you'll have to do an incredible amount of BFH, and also roll the outer fender, and you STILL might rub. might even have to do some sort of offset LCA. not impossible, just a lot of work. otherwise i would have done 335 Hoosiers :D

Don't we start talking mini-tubbing when you breach the 11 inch rim widths? Either way, wouldn't you be better off spending money to get better, lighter rims that are already 11.5-12inch?

It will look good if you can get the wheel to sit in the right spot. You will need to roll the outer fender and you will also have to bfh the inner. Your gonna have to use a big spacer to set the wheel back in its approximate original location, then you will need longer studs. Me personally I don't think I would be comfortable riding around a 1.5-2" spacer.

just get the widest 315 and be happy...too wide and it starts looking tacky

There really is no benefit to run a 335 over a 315. For the amount of work it would take to get a 335 to fit it would just not be worth it...to me at least.

I ran 335 hoosiers on 17x11 Zr1's. I rolled the lip and BFH mod to make them clear. Then I autoX it once and they rubbed my LCA's a lil. I'm no longer running them but still have them. They hooked really good and looked even better. I only have a few cell phone pics of them, but can post a link to them if u want pics.

The problem is there are not many 315's in 18's, I wish there were 315 KDW's, I would be happy. I would just run the KDW DR's but I love driving the twistys and i don't think the DR's would be up to the challenge. Most of the brands 315 in 18's are not as wide as BFG's tires. If anyone has any input on some other brands that make 315's in 18's I would appreciate that to. Thanks

why do you need bigger rims. i run my 335 on 18x10.5 C5 ZO6 rims. they fit right in and look bad ass.

Because from every thing I have seen it is recommended to run 335's the wheel be at least 11.5" wide, and my wheel are only 9.5" wide.

I wouldn't do it on a widened wheel, obviously you'll need a spacer, but you are stretching the limits. I plan on running a 335 on my Fikse's, they are 12" wide and don't rub at all w/no BFH on stock height, lowered it required some 'massaging', but not much. I suggest a wheel with the perfect offset you need.

If I had the money right now I would get new wheels, they would be some SP500's. But i am broke :confused: so i was trying to find a cheeper method.

I'm not aware of a 335 DR, and with your power you'd need something, do they make a 335 ET street? I would almost just say get them widened and put some 315 MT ET Street's on them, you'll need them w/your power. The MT's run wide, perhaps not 2cm wider, but that 2cm difference is spread over the contact patch and the sidewall, so it won't be a huge difference.

I was refering to the 335 KDW street tires. I could run the et streets, but they wont last long on the street. My car is my DD and i need a tire that can handle sun and rain, and able to handle the twisty Mountain roads.
