Default Jegs Sport stars 15x4 weight vs stock 16" rim?

What is weight difference between Jegs Sport stars 15x4 and stock 16" TransAm rim? is it worth paying money for Jegs?
I guess 165/80-15 tire also wouldn't be TOO much lighter than some 215/50-R16?

If you can find the weight of a stock tire/wheel combo, you could compare it to about 36 lbs for the Jegs wheel (roughly 16 lbs) + about 20 lbs for your average street tire in that size. Keep in mind that your overall moving mass is less due to the narrow wheel and tire, even if the weight itself isn't as less as you'd like. If you want to save weight and you're not driving the combo on the street, go with a non-radial thin walled tire like the ET front or hoosier front runner, they're only about 10-12 lbs each instead of 20-22.

02EBZO6, thanks, so 16lbs for 15x4 and about 20 for 165/xx?
I know real drag skinnies are better, just not sure if it is cost effective mod...
So now I'm thinking whether to spend money on Jegs + 165, or stick with 16" stocks I have, and put some 215s with minimum tread

Yeah i wanna say theyre like 4-5 lbs heavier per wheel than the real prostars. A cost effective mod if you go with a lighter front tire.

BTW, did you weigh 16lbs yourself? I wonder why they don't quote weight in the wheel description
