All you backup camera'ers

im ordering an indash screen and want to wire up everything i can while im putting it in and a backup camera came to mind. My windows are tinted too dark to see the mirrors well so this would help and also have something people around here dont have so im just wondering what camera you have and where you have it mounted? there are some cheesy ones on ebay for cheap but i dont want it to be that noticeable and then someone break it off.

the onely thing i can tell you is cut a hole in the back plate to mount the camera . the best one is the cc1-2000

Well this was in my old camaro, but it worked perfect for me:D:D The camera was made by Clarion, don't go for some cheap one off of ebay because they all seem to have reverse polarity. I miss my camera, might do the same setup in the new Z:nod:

you could get a plate style camera. to the quick glance'r it looks like any other license plate frame.

i was thinking about the plate frame style but i have to find one that actually looks good. i was also thinking something like 1sicLS1-except without the gray part around it. like take out the key "cylinder"? for the trunk and find a camera to fit in that hole but if i take that out, the trunk will still shut correct? or is that all built in/affects everything else?

1sicLS1 Mar 15, 2009 09:51 PM

Yes your trunk will still shut and of course just cant use your key, but thats what keyless entry is for :)

futuref-body Mar 15, 2009 11:24 PM

NICE! i never used the key to open it so far (knock on wood-something will prolly mess up now) but i guess that would be a pretty good spot to put a camera. orrr i could somehow cut a hole and mount it in my third brake light? then get it vht'd (along with the other lights) to better blend in?

1sicLS1 Mar 15, 2009 11:37 PM

I thought about the 3rd brake light also, but then I thought well from opening and closing the trunk you would need a nice secure mount so it doesn't move and also thought about it being a little high. Honestly where I put mine I loved it, had no problems, no leaking as far as when it rained and it was a really simple install. Wish I had pics to show you more but that was like back in 1997 lol.

i think ima stick a camera in the key hole then now after you said all that.

1sicLS1 Mar 16, 2009 12:03 AM

Just curious what type of deck are you using for the video?

futuref-body Mar 16, 2009 12:09 AM
