replacing drl's on Trans Am Firehawk

What's the easiest way to access them?

JUSTINSWS6 Jan 25, 2012 06:23 PM

From the bottom there is a black flap that un-bolts with two bolts. Then 2 screws on the drls and they come out. Hope this helps...

.....Or.... manually pop up headlights, remove headlight black trim, and that will give you access to work on removing them.

Easiest way is to go from the bottom IMO. Shouldn't take you more than 5 min.

Definitely go in from the bottom.. Pull out those bottom panels, it's much easier and you won't cut up your arms as much.

If just replacing the bulbs then I can get them out through the hole in the bumper as well. If you want to replace the entire housing, then underneath is the best way to go. I replaced my housings with new ones when I installed the BLS HID kit. You wouldn't believe how bad the stock ones looked...guess it's to be expected for over 10 years.

I removed everything underneath but cannot get the bulb out. It unscrews to a certain point but won't go any further. Any tips?

Where in Texas are you?

Look for a pic of the DRL socket on here. There is a locking latch around the base of the socket. You have to hold down on that locking latch and then turn to get the bulb out.

I really dont know why you are having such difficulty removing the bulbs lol.

I live in Crowley Tx but I'm in graham at the moment. The problem is I can't really see what I'm doing under there. I'm gonna jack it up a lil so I can get a better view.

See that little clip on towards the bottom left? You have to squeeze that in and then twist to get the socket out of the DRL housing. I'm starting to think that maybe your socket melted and is now stuck to your housing, that's why you're not able to get it off.

Definitely, jack it up so you can see what you're doing.

Well I finally got it off. What can I use to clean the socket? It's rusted all to hell and not getting a good connection.
