I had an occasional single "skip" with my music playback on my Tab 2 so I went into the adavance menu in Poweramp and just increased the "buffer" from auto or standard or whatever the default setting is called to Large (+250ms) and haven't been able to get it to skip since, see if N7 has advance audio tweaks like that. I just prefer poweramp as I feel the left right swipe for track change and up down swipe for album change is about the BEST setup for in car use.

Thanks Daniel Richards for the tip. I looked into the settings in the N7 player and sure enough theres a buffer setting (had to kick myself for having a blonde moment as it even says in muted text below it that its experimental but could be tried if you experience skipping in music playback). I gave it a shot and let the music play through the end of my shift today and it looks like its doing the trick. I think i caught 1 skip the whole time but I was only half paying attention at that point so it could have just been my ears playing tricks. If its not resolved I'll give the Poweramp app a shot. The buffer setting on the N7 player is basically an on/off setting and i cant set how much of a buffer to allow but at least I have something to fall back on.

I tried out the Audio Glow live Wallpaper mentioned in SDB_FTW's thread and I'm really liking the thing. Having the music visualized on the background is a really nice touch (didnt mean to steal any thunder from his build but the look was too good to pass up).

I just got in my 6x9 Kappas and they're really nice looking units. I cant wait to get them in. With the power handling listed on these things I'm really looking forward to how things are going to sound. Hopefully the install doesnt turn out to be a headache since the rear hatch wasnt built for 6x9's. We shall see sometime this weekend with any luck.

I personally prefer Poweramp and I have tried most of the music players out there and it was the only one that fit all my criteria:
1. has it's own built-in media scanner, so it doesn't rely on the android built in scanner which skips MP3's with "damaged" ID3 tags, also allows use of a .nomedia file (google if not familiar). I think 1 or 2 other music apps had one but most rely on the android scanner.
2. when sorting by albums, when you reach the last track of an album can be set to continue to the next album alphabetically, again very few do this, some are even so bad that you basically have to create a "playlist" on the fly
3. Swipe controls for changing tracks or albums, that way you don't even have to look down, I can't think of any other app that had that.
4. auto "pause" and auto "play" when connecting or disconnecting headphones or Bluetooth.

that said it does have a few bugs here and there, on some Roms you need to reboot after installing or the sound won't be as loud as it should be, and the lockscreen is portrait mode only and the repeat icon doesn't always display the current setting right. Also the lockscreen doesn't play well with Jelly Bean.

Also don't forget to get an OBD II bluetooth connector and the Torque app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...bC50b3JxdWUiXQ.. that way you have full vehicle dynamics on the tablet aswell, I got this scanner
Amazon Amazon
yes it's some cheap knockoff (cheap as in "burned" miniCD, cheap), but read the reviews for how to set it up with torque and atleast for me it works fine.

The torque app is definitely on my docket of things to implement. I just need to buy one of those OBD2 BT Connectors. I'll be going the same route as u on that. Thats one item i wont feel bad about cheaping out on.

Been playing around with that tasker app and the secure settings plugin for it. What a powerful lil duo for the tab. I'm definitely liking how things are looking more and more.
