2002 convert speakers
 

So in the convert with a monsoon U59 there are 8 speakers = 4 mid ranges with tweeters YET the factory manual wiring calls out for fronts, rears, midranges and tweeter. Thats more then 8 speakers. I can understand the fronts and rears with tweeters but what are the midranges?

Both door and quarter panel speakers are component sets - a mid and a tweeter with the the rear (and Camaro door) tweeters mounted in the middle of the mids like a coaxial speaker. That's eight channels... left/right/front/rear mids and left/right/front/rear tweeters.

Midrange speakers are the 6.5" woofers that the tweeter is mounted in the center of. They reproduce your mid-bass (on a typical setup between 300hz and 5khz).
