1997 pontiac trans am door chime on when drivers door is open. No key in ignition.
So I replaced the ignition lock cylinder in my 97 T/A due to the wires breaking and causing the security light to come on. Now that everything is back together I am getting a door chime when the drivers door is open. Key not in ignition. Placing the key in the ignition and turning it to start will silence the door chime. Also closing the door will as well. Passenger side door is not effected by this issue. Any ideas what could be happening to cause this?

Your key presence switch was probably not installed correctly when you did the cylinder replacement. (Sorry for the bad news.) For tips and tricks, see page 49-51 here: https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/...ck_Rebuild.pdf

Hey thanks for the information! Turns out you were correct and the key switch was in fact not installed fully. Got it working right now! Woo took me two and a half hours the first time pulling the steering column. This time it was an hour! Fun stuff!
