Default Question about a Kenwood deck...need to know if it's functioning...

Okay...this past weekend my buddy and I started on a stereo install. We got about half way though. We intalled a Kenwood deck, the X789 (2005 model), and all 4 speakers. We didn't get a chance to do the amps so the Kenwood deck has all three sets of RCA's running into the hatch not plugged in. Also, there is an XM reciever with the Kenwood adapter plugged into the CD changer plug. Now here's what's concerning me...when you turn the deck on it seems to be hung up in "demo mode." When I scroll through the sources I can get "CD", "tuner", "Sirius", and "standby". There's nothing to show that it recognizes the XM box (no "CD changer" or "auxiliary") and it's saying "Sirius" which I don't have. I am hoping it's all screwed up because the RCA's aren't plugged in and it knows the signal isn't going out so it's stuck in "demo mode". The instruction book doesn't even say anything about demo mode. What gives here?
