Anti theft device's

Well after seeing "sQuashed's" thread HERE, Ive decided it would be a good idea to invest in a anti theft device, and im not talking about a pussy alarm. Do any of you have any ideas on how to keep our pride and joy's safe from theft? Thanks

One of my co-workers just started using the on-star security/tracking systems. The service makes it possible to find your car no matter where its at. I don't know if I would really want anyone to be able to find me at all times though. But, if you wanted to have maximum security, it may be worth it.

OnStar wasn't available on our cars and isn't available as an aftermarket add-on.

Some of the DEI alarm systems come with GPS tracking but that can be defeated by just loading the car into a metal trailer.

The viper 791xv has the tracking capability your looking for. You pay a yearly fee.

I wonder why onstar is said to be so good when one of the most stolen vehicles the past few years was the cadillac escalade. I know they come with onstar. My mom has it and i'm glad she does as insurance, but i do wonder why an onstar equipped car could have such a high rate of theft.

Im thinking a coil with wires mounted under the door handle, from a live wire to ground and ZAP  That would be a decent start to a theft deterent system.

My dad had mentioned this when I had first gotten my car and it would probably be an easy and cheap do it yourself thing, just wire up an inline switch to kill the starter and hide the switch someplace in the interior. It may not deter professional thieves but I think it would deter most

THIS looks pretty cool for the money http://www.apogeekits.com/ignition_kill_switch.htm

Well no car is unstealable but you can make it rough for them. I was thinking that if I ever have to replace my fuel pump maybe finding a way to put a switch inline with the power to the pump, when you shut your car off throw the switch and if someone tries to start your car no power to the fuel pump. If they can't find the switch they would have to drop the tank to get to the fuel pump or cut on the rear deck to get to it to take the switch out of the power source. I wonder if that would work?

that is what i just bought. i got it for $220 which is way better then paying $550 installed at the dealer. i can get it installed for $150. so u can save a couple hundred dollars if u find the right place to buy

I'm looking at the Viper 791xv as well. I've seen them for a little over $200 as well. DEI is hard to beat IMO.

Thats one of the best alarms that is out there thats for sure.
No car is unstealable thats for sure. I think the main idea is to make it less desirable to steal

i don't really see any point in onstar or lo jack, so what they can track your car, but by the time they find it its destroyed anyway. best bet really is an alarm with a starter kill. if they alarm is installed properly and the alarm brain is inaccessable the thief will not be able to start the car.

Here's an idea I got from another forum:
